Japanese planned obsolescence really is daunting, new cameras coming
along every 12 months...so a solution has arrived!

That "solution":
1) Was discontinued 8 years ago.
2) Had the performance of a Nikon D40 or Canon rebel body (1/2000 sec shutter speed, awkward controls, no weather sealing, 92% coverage viewfinder).
3) Weighed about 6 pounds (3 for the camera, 3 for an MF digital back).
4) Was manual focus.
5) Had a very high total cost of ownership, instead of replacing $8000 (soon down to $3000) DSLRs, you replaced $30,000 MF digital backs.
6) Had lower performance in the 24x36mm cropped portion of a MF back than a purpose built FF DSLR does.
Larger, heavier, slower, more expensive, harder to use, and poorer in performance. That's basically why the modular DLSR premise will always fail.
It came, but none asked it to stay.
No tear was shed, when it went away.
