I don´t know the name of this fellow in english, it was crossing the street very slowly (but run when i got close) and i was lucky to have my camera. With a LX3 i was never going to get this pics, its zoom is not long enough.

Nice pics, where is he from?

Mine is from South America, Brazil, and lives in a small forest in the city near my house.

the Americas called an iguana. There are tree dwelling, ground dwelling, and marine types. Their diet consists of insects and vegetation. One of my sons raised one of these in a vivarium (indoor habitat). He name it Gary, and it later laid 40 eggs. The name remained Gary.

Amazing looking beast! However, if that's what is running around the streets of Brazil, I'll just stay in Colorado. LOL

I was in Costa Rica, at a small mom & pop lunch stop place, near Rio de Frio. Believe it or not, he was about 3 feet long. He was laying in the top of a tree, under a bridge.

I used to live in Brasil and they aren't that dangerous.. that is unless you make them mad. Then the tail can really hurt (since it will try and hit you with it). Great pictures by the way. Those lizards are fun to take pictures of. It's even more fun when you get to hold one.

I've known several folks with pet iguanas. Much like snakes if you move slowly around them and keep them well fed, they are pretty docile. Up here in the north, one person's iguana would follow the sunbeams around the house, then when the sun went down, the owner would carry the lizard back to the first room where the sun comes up the next morning! Great animals.

Hi, where did you live? What city?
Best regards

They run around the streets and trees of S FL, too. Not dangerous, as someone said, but a huge nuisance, since they love to poop in swimming pools and devour plants down to the roots. In cold spells you can hear the thud of falling iguanas in the backyard when they get too chilly to hang on to the trees anymore.
