I have shot over 3000 pictures with my 995, and suddenly I see this error on some of my pictures - check this:

This is a crop in actual size (of a not very good image), but what are these purple pixels in the dark areas? They were on several of the images that day( only in dark areas), but on many others - even darker images - there were no errors.

I've just started taking pictures without any in-camera image-sharpening, can that be the reason? Or can the type of memory-card be to blame? I use a Memorex 128 Mb card, but I never had problems before.

I had similar problem when I used my camera (CP885) in auto-mode without flash in quite "low light" room. If you used auto-mode, I think that the reason is lack of noise-reduction. Also in some of the scene-modes there isn't a noise-reduction.

I succest that you try to shoot with other settings. If that doesn't work, you should send the camera back to the store....

HINT: low light, lack of noise-reduction and long exposure time (and maybe high temperature) will increase chance of "death pixels". USE NOISE-REDUCTION if you want to get good pictures in low light situtations.

Alan.T.wrote: I have not,as yet, experienced this phenomenon with my 995 but have read about it,not as specific to the 995 but as a general problem. I was surprised to see this effect in a sample pic from the new Leica Digilux 1 ! A possible (probable?) explanation is that if the ccd is "powered-up" for a longer time the heat generated may cause it to "go beserk" (et slags hedeslag) . Do you remember if,at the time you took this pic, your lcd had been on for some time ? I made an experiment once with three exposures taken when the monitor had been on for varying lengths of time and did find a small increase in noise with time but nothing like your result. I do hope your camera doesn´t have the measles ! > > Alan.

How long was your exposure. Nothing is in focus, was this a very long exposure?

No, it's on 1/444 second. This is actually like most of my pics look in real-size without any in-camera image-sharpening.

I can see that the problem disappeared on the next location, maybe because it had been turned off a while. On some images it is also evident in all the picture, even in lighter areas. I suspect it might have to do with the fact, that I often turn to "review" before the picture has been properly saved - it sometimes write "warning" - but I've never before seen any degradation, so it might be something else.
