Hey y'all,

I need the CS4 but the MSP of $700 is a killer!!! I saw several websites that offer downloads at $100-$200 but I am not sure whether or not I will end up with a virus and/or credit card fraud.

If you know any serious website that offer reasonble priced downloads or CD packages, please let me know.

Thanks,
Papa

Do you REALLY have to ask?

You're not going to find it at a major discount unless you are a student. Otherwise $668 at Amazon is about as good a discount as you will find.

Or, if you have an earlier version of Photoshop they will some times offer you deals. I had PSE-4 and was offered CS4 for $300 from Adobe. I didn't take-up the offer and instead upgraded to PSE-7.

It Ain't Bragging If You Can Do It

Sometimes you can find a deal on an earlier version, then upgrade. Just be sure the early version is either new (never registered) or that you can trust the seller to do the registration transfer.

Before you buy, go to the Adobe site and read the rules on transfering registration and what versions qualify for upgrades. Also, check the seller's reputation as thoroughly as possible.

What you consider "reasonble priced" CS4, others would consider a mockery. If you truly need CS4, the asking price is reasonable. If you can save a couple of Jacksons off the asking price, be satisfied. If you just want the product to say you have the "gold standard" of editing programs, look at Adobe Elements, or GIMP. Either likely will provide more features than you need.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I went to EBay and I found several copies sealed in box for $200-$250 from sellers with very good ratings. I'll buy from one of them. There's no risk involved since paypal gives a full refund if you're not happy with the product.

Indeed - if it sounds too good to be true... ;)

Or WORK for an educational establishment (and this doesn't just apply to teachers, but to support staff)... I discovered the other day that I'm entitled to the discount :)

Not sure about this but if you've got kids at school you may be able to buy it for them on the education discount ;)

It's an expensive piece of software, but then you get what you pay for. As such you will have to dedicate time to learning it if you're ever going to get your money's worth - so should factor that into the equation. Otherwise Elements may offer enough options and is a total bargain. The GIMP is free, but from my experience is perhaps a little more difficult to get into.
