D90 For Sports

I have a question for the D90 owners. Do any of you use it for sports, actioon shooting, particularly indoor arena type shots? I am most curious to know how the images look at 1600-3200 iso. I am real close to changing systems and am curious about this body as the D300 is a little out of my range with the glass I wish to get. I thank you now for any input.

These were all taken with the D90 and Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D. All shots below at ISO 1600.

Thanks for the reply. Those are very clean and sharp images. Any pp noise reduction done or is that straight out of the camera?

No PP NR at all. Some minor brightness, contrast and a little sharpening, but that is all.

Not so high in ISO in mine but I found it to work pretty well. Used the 18-200mm but will be going with a wider prime next time.

The D90 has the same output as the D300 basically. The AF may be quicker and use more focus points, but the frame rate is pretty close on both unless you put a battery grip on the D300 to shoot at 8fps. My D90 isn't found too wanting for sports.....most of the time it's i'm found wanting.

Boat shots are at ISO 1600.

I sold my D300 and got a D90 instead. D90 is better at high ISO and according to DxO it's the best sub-FF camera at this time.

With the right lens the D90 will work fine for sports. Below in one with the D90 and the 70-200VR lens.

Thank you all for your input. I do appreciate it. Yes the 70-200 lens is killer. I think both Nokon and Canon have a superb 70-200 f2.8 lens.
