I was talking to a salesgirl I know for years in a camera shop in Cork recently. I bought the only E-3 they've ever stocked. What interested me was that she told me they've sold huge numbers of the e-4?? series in the past year or two. The size/weight thing is really important here it seems.

Are generally highly educated people, who appreciate that form should follow function.

I desperately wish to visit the South of Ireland - perhaps we can get a Safari Group trip going this year...

Kind Regards

Brian

I bought e400 a couple of years ago - just before introduction of the e410.

I notice a number of shops stocking the e510 and e520 with both the e3 and the e4xx series much rarer ( only know one shop with e3 in stock)

I notice a few shops no longer seem to stock Olympus dslr but they are mainly dealing in compacts and dslr sales is probably only a minor part of their business.

In dublin there are several shops selling Oly for example Pixels Dublin but there seems lack of competition.
All the price's seems around the RSP.

Bought my 50-200 SWD in the Netherlands for 200 euro less than the 50-200 mk1 costs in Dublin at that moment.

Lack of competition maybe, that or just a refusal to reduce their prices. Olympus prices in Dublin seem to stay static for some reason. I'd have an e-420 by now if the price reduced like it seems to everywhere else.

Of course, that means I've missed that camera and have money for an e-620!

It seems the Irish are wusses. The real photographers carry big black behemoths and even bigger lenses. Little girly cams are not even on their radar.

j/k, of course. :-)

I was under the impression that E-5xx is a much better seller than E-4xx. Do you know how the 5 series fares?

BTW, Europe still makes 36% of Olympus Imaging sales, which is a little more than 1.5 times that of North America or Asia. It used to be double a year or two ago.

Brian, South of Ireland would be great.

A place I would like to visit there is Killarney, if you have some more concrete plans I might be interested to visit it with the Olympus club as well.
