So...

The other day i printed off an a4 sheet that had a few diff photos from the wombats on it for the lady that sells burgers in the barrowlands stall.. She wanted some gig photos to display on the walls there.

Anyway the promotor of the gig seen it and asked me if i would like to shoot SLF! (stiff little fingers). So ofc i said yes!.

First 3 song's, no flash (typical rules wich i dont understand why.. ) Anyway it was quite fun, had to dodge alot of flying beer and it wasnt a big lighting rig so i didnt get as many good shots as i had hoped but i got some decent ones i think.

This is one of them...

perspective.
For me photography is a tool for capturing these insights, for reflection and
sharing.

Crikey.
Nice shot.

The SLF gig I attended (quite some medium-distance time ago) was actually rather frightening. It started with beer and spittle throwing but then got totally out of hand. The band had to walk off due to the ongoing fights in the audience, if a brawling rabble could be called such a thing as an audience.

My pal tripped over a large knife of bayonet proportions that someone had dropped while engaged in a punch-up. Charming stuff.

Didn't take any good photos like what you did. Probably just soiled my pants and would have missed any good photo-opportunities anyway.

wow that sounds a bit nuts!!

Ive kinda been doing SLF gigs for years now (as a stagehand/local roadie).. thay play in the barrowlands every saint patrick's day and i dont think ive ever seen something like you describe. Its mostly just a beer tossing contest from what i can tell lol.

Thanks for the nice comments on my photo :), ill try look though some of the others i took (wich arnt as good as this one imho!) and share some more.

Btw TaV is amazing for shooting gig's, i could only imagen it being better if i had a k20d! (better high iso.. higher iso's)

Thanks for the top-tip. I'll have a think about that TaV usage.

Yes, it was a bit stupid nuts. The reason the SLF gigs are not so nuts these days is simply that their audience is now too old to be bothered to fight. Which is absolutely fine by me.

These days the only type of totally rowdy gig I get to go to are of the likes as shown below. Totally nuts. (And GREAT shooting too - definintely on a par with your shot. Not)

Cheers.

Love the band... Love this shot...

All I can say is I am envious of both... nice get and I look forward to seeing more.

Gus --- There are none so blind as those who had no chance to see... stop censoring photos!

Cheers for that.. so it takes a few idiots to spoil a good thing...

Ahh well, atleast for future refrence.. if i want to shoot a band and get around the 3 shot thing then its best to ask the band themself. Not something u can always do mind you..

It is such a stupid rule... and tbh to old for today, i see tones of ppl up at the front of stages all the time with point n shoots.. blasting flash's off constantly and other ppl recording gig's in HD format with the same cams (and getting good quality.. apart from the sound wich is mostly 2 loud lol).

Anyway... thanks for the comments and stuff :)

some more from the shoot...

Same band I was listen too 28 years ago? If so I have many of their singles released in 45's.

I'll have to look them up again!
