I've looked but I can't find any info on what the max write speed is on the FZ50.

When I first got it I just bought a cheap SanDisk 4GB SDHC card, but it's pretty slow writing RAW files. So today I dropped in an old Transcend 150x 2GB SD card a noticed the speed was much better, almost twice as fast.

So now I'm looking at getting a SanDisk Extreme III 8 or 16GB card. But is it worth it to spend the extra money for the 30MB/sec version or is the 20MB/sec version already pushing the limits of the camera?

Thanks

I had the pana class 4 4GB SDHC, and buy an 8GB SDHCkingston class 6 and don't see the difference. But clear my 1gb lexar sd (old one) give me more speed.

I think it's the fat difference that do the difference in record time in the FZ50 and that you are seeing with your 2GB card.

Perhaps the manner of how we format the card may give a difference.... Don't know ( formt in the pc or in the FZ).

Well no, I know the 2GB card is faster than the 4 GB card, that's not the question. The real question is what is the upper speed of the camera. I know an Extreme III or an Ultra II will out perform my low speed card, but I don't know if the Extreme III will out Perform the Ultra II.

I don't remember where I got the data, but what I was told is the highest speed needed would be 10MB/s.
