Won't make any difference to me, the A900 was well out of my budget!

Back to mere mortals, the only concern is what prices increase in other areas, bodies and lenses etc.

But then I don't care much either, as I own 0 sony lenses, 0 sony accessories ;-)

Just the body does me! lol

According to the article, "However, the firm is expected to hold the price of other DSLRs in its range, according to Chris Bowen, head of Digital Imaging at Sony UK."

I think major brands usually have lower margins on cameras because they expect you to buy lenses and accessories

I suppose that this price rise which is in the order of £ 350 is inevitable & to be fair Sony have held back on price increases compared to Canon & Nikon in the UK.

Those contemplating getting an A900 will be kicking themselves that they could not get to FOCUS at Birmingham where Cameraworld had it on sale for £1449.50 !

I enquired early on the last day at the Jacobs stand & they had sold 30 A900's which shows that the camera will sell well at lower prices. OK 30 sold at higher prices would have brought them more profit but would they have sold 30 at higher prices ?? This may well be a case for further study in these credit crisis days.

Those who have not yet bought should rapidly consider their options or wait & hope that the new DSLRs to be released in the Summer will suit their expectations & pocket.

The Japanese economy is going south faster than Europe or the US, and the yen is still VERY strong relative to other currencies. Sony's margins are probably very tight and probably were intentionally tight to begin with, given production start-up on the new camera and small but growing sales.

I notice that some of the Sony lenses are creeeping up also. WHE have jacked up the price of the 1.4X TC from £265 to £309 recently. That's over 15%.

Some places are holding prices down, warehouse express was ok last I looked. Other ones like amazon seem to have been pushing them up, even other sellers. The 58 flash is a cool £460 on amazon! £375 on WE

Nikon have gone up notably though..so sony are not looking so bad..yet that is.

I hate to keep harping on about FOCUS but the 58 flash was £285 there - perhaps folk should wait until FOCUS returns next year before buying !

Haha ... 1 April fools! Don't know about this one but in general anything with/on April Fool's Day a big red warning light goes on. Although this would be plainly not be funny so it might be true and there is some merit in the reasoning.
