Are more black LX3 cameras coming?

So here is the breakdown of LX3K availability since late January. All are according to various Direct Sales personnel at Panasonic.

Late Jan :: Panasonic states the units will be available by the 2nd half of February.

2nd Half of February :: The LX3K is discontinued.

Beginning of March :: The LX3K will be available at the end of the month.

Mid March :: The LX3K will be available in June.

Also Mid March :: The LX3K is discontinued.

I have the silver and believe it looks much cooler in person than in pictures. I wanted a Black and have an order in for one but don't really expect it. Good luck.

since I've had a black one (that I stole for the paltry sum of $325) for a few months but in the beginning, prior to release, I literally hated the way the silver looked, unlike how I liked how the silver FZ30 looked & determined I'd never settle for a silver LX3.. And really color is very well down on my list of consideration... I'd have bought my FZ30 @ full intro MSRP if it were purple & chartreuse paisley..

My desire for an LX was fraught with many more negatory aspects that an FZ doesn't suffer from already just in its basic design that the color was sort of a last straw I was willing to let it be the final blow to kill the deal but luckily that never got to that point, since at that time Black wasn't so rare....

Well anyway, after Tom Hoots & others posting numerous pics in varied different lighting & while still not as good lookin' as the gunmetal gray of the FZ30/50 or the even richer lookin' charcoal gray of the FX150.. Basically, I think, if I were now hankerin' for an LX3 & with all the unreliable forecasts & predictions of the new black arrivals being anytime this year.. I'm pretty sure I would've caved by now & settled for the silver... It's just not as much of a fashion statement for me to deny myself possibly missing prime springtime shooting merely because of the color of the camera...

Of course, I'm also of the opinion, from hands on experience @ single digit temps, the heat attraction of black in the sun compared to silver is of possible detriment to the innards of said beast so the superficial negatory outward appearance of silver opposed to black is a worthy trade off even if not significant either way...

But then again, really, the only reason I have an LX at all is due to MSLive CashBack anyway... $325, barely a month out of the gate was severely compelling, even though I had to risk eshopic through Ebay & totally lucked out getting a perfectly B/N USA box that they've since replaced with Saudi boxes & without any 30% Cashback recently...

That's the cheapest I've ever paid for a B/N camera & so far it's the best IQ of any... $400 was my high water mark for an LX3 & since J&R is in NYS as am I, even with the much lesser cashback through J&R that would be canceled out by sales tax... I'd probably be without an LX today..

Take the silver & wash your hands of Panasonic & their totally underwhelming supply & demand chain once & for all... They're clearly going in the wrong direction with regard to the FZ30/50, chipped over-priced batteries & general accessorizing & downright brutal service & support that can only be overlooked because they generally put out a durable rpoduct with low failue rates during the warranty....
Are more black LX3 cameras coming? Or are they no more? Should I
just order a silver one?

Amazing how you never miss a chance to bash Panasonic because they
didn't give you a FZ60...heheh. You really carry a grudge... :-).
That's only because, the only thing left that I respect about them is the fact that there's someone, with some authority in the company monitoring these pages & after all they're only words albeit falling seemingly on deaf ears... It's also the 2nd cam company that has abruptly dropped a good cam, Oly being the 1st, with the demise of the c2100uz that after a few years of absolutely nothing, was poorly replaced by the pitiful SP series....

My next prediction for Pany is a fall in the build quality, that has already shown itself with the apparent wearing off of finish & or icons on the G1.... It's only a matter of time till important structural elements start to fail....

Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk!! Actually I've been going rather light on them of late... I should let them have it for what I think is a quite weak AWB indoors.. v1.2 helped but it's still not what it should be for their newest top-o-the-line wonder-cam... Reminds me of the one glaring weakness in my nearly 10 yr old c2100... I shouldn't have to desaturate the yellow channel -30 or -40 every time I shoot in fluorescent lighting.. I may have to resort to my expo-disk & manual WB but at least I'll give em credit for includng that option...

I'm pretty good at doing research on the 'net and also asking the right questions.

One guy on this forum claimed he just received a black one from Dell, but Dell told me flat out they have not shipped that model in some time and don't expect any for up to 5 weeks. I have no idea if his story is true.

Several Canadian stores told me they expect them in June.

Some US large web and retail entities told me 6-8 weeks.

It looks, to me, that black may be available around May - June. All these sources seemed to point to a common time approx. 6-8 weeks from now.

So IMHO if they ever do become avaialable here in US it will be sometime late May or June. But they're selling so well in Europe and elsewhere that maybe they never will be here in US again.

i was in luck my sister is in japan for another 3 weeks and had her assitant ordered me a Black one. She got the camera delivered the next day and she's shipping it back to me. $390 not bad and free shipping hehe (well she's shipping stuff to her company so she's adding it in there ) But i can't wait to get it next week.

Nope. I beg to differ. Fuji dropped the F31fd. I probably got the last one out of bhphotovideo and 6 months later sold it on eBay for much more money than I originally paid.

I remember people searching for one on the Fuji forums much like people are searching for the LX3 on this forum.

Fuji never really replaced the F31fd and I never was interested in the Fuji p&s cam that followed.

My take on all of this is that mfgs make just one manufacturing run for a particular p&s model. Looks like the LX3 is gone for ever. No more. Zilch. Nada. Rien.

RIP DMC-LX3K

I'm hoping you made sure your menu was not in Japanese, unless you can read the language.

By the time the black one is available, there would be an announcement for the LX4 or G11 by then. I'm getting close to the point to say, the hell with it and just buy the silver or switch to another brand. If Pana can't deliver then I hope they file for chapter 11 for their good sake.

It should be pretty easy to figure out since most the menus usually have multi language.
