Dear Mr. XXXXXX

Thank you for your inquiry.

We cannot guarantee that a dealer is carrying the product you are
requesting as the DMCLX3 is a 2008 model which is no longer being
manufactured.

Thank you for your interest in Panasonic products.

Thank You,
Panasonic Consumer Support

there are plenty to be found.

LX3K = black LX3, LX3S = silver LX3.

A quick google throws up 33,500 results for LX3K which it wouldn't if it was a new model.

local marketing and support people not knowing what is going on. It is doubtful that the LX3 (meaning the Leica version as well) has been discontinued.

Instead of flaming the guy, read the email........if it is a real email: "the DMCLX3 is a 2008 model which is no longer being manufactured"

Why would Panasonic stop manufacturing the LX3? Regardless of stock all over the world, why are they responding to him that since it's a 2008 model, they aren't manufacturing it?!

They have a hit and they've shortened the life cycle of this model? That doesn't make sense.

July 2009 is only 4 months away. LX4?

hello

both black and silver are available in France :

http://www.pixmania.com/fr/fr/s_action/search/index.html
A few dealers have them and actually show them as in stock - others say that they have no stock but are expecting the next lot at some variable dates within this next month or so.

Certainly there is nothing to suggest firmly that the LX3 has been discontinued .. and this seems idiotic as it clearly suggests the Leica D-Lux-4 would then also be stopped ..and that I'll never accept at the present time. This range has had a two-year lifespan in earlier models and there's nothing to suggest it likely to change right now.

The whole situation has just got out of hand for supplies as Panasonic simply cannot keep up the normal buying due to highly inflated prices with the currency collapse.

Yes - but they didn't become available on the market until later .. did they ??

IF they do announce the LX4 in July - which IS possible .. it is highly unlikely to be in the shops before about early-mid-September. Are they going to sit on "no Sales" until then !!!!!

Dez;

First let me thank for your response.

I have no reason to post a false E-mail. I too am waiting to purchase a LX3K and have had an order in with J&R for over a month.

I went on the Panasonic site and e-mailed them to ask when I could expect the LX3K to be back in stock at store's, and that was the response I received.

I'm sorry that some poster's can't see this as me just posting something they might be interested in and in the future will refrain from posting on the subject.

Have a nice evening

p.s. even if it's a positive :o)

The 1 and 2 were not exactly sales hits like the LX3. If something doesn't sell well, they would naturally try to replace it faster. If it is a hit they wouldn't replace it as fast. IMHO.

I emailed J&R about my order. They don't know exactly when they will receive the back orders, but they said they would have been notified if the LX3 was discontinued.

No problem. I believe you that Panasonic responded that way but I'm "floored" as to why they are discontinuing that model so quickly.

It doesn't really matter to me. I already own a DMC-LX3K and I got it from J&R in November. But to discontinue a clear hit doesn't make sense.

If a LX4 is coming out soon, it better beat the hell out of the LX3 in every department.

They should just continue selling the LX3 because it is a clear HIT and when sales decline, think about releasing a LX4 with features & performance that surpasses the LX3.

So why should we expect an announcement this coming July? If there's any conclusion to be reached from your dates listed below then an LX4 wouldn't be announced until possibly 2010 or 2011.

LX2 - Announced 19-Jul-06

C'mon fellas, this is so freaking obvious.

Just as was the case with the G1 --> GH1, Panasonic will be rolling out an LXH3.

It's the only possible explanation. Rational minds will agree.

(Happily rubbing my LX3K that I got from J&R back in November -- ha!)

No. not upset, you are just beating this rumor to death. even if true, it only needs to be covered once, do a search, you are one of many who have inside info, then by about post 50, someone will say, "I just heard from the rep that they are not discontinued. Common sense says that the LX3 is not. What would Panasonic have to gain by doing so? Would Leica sign a one year deal for their DL4?

Granted Panasonic is lagging in production, and the ones that are made are sold right off... I got mine when they said it was unavailable,, from B&H no less....
