Here's another take on the subject:

"Of the known space rocks, the next time an object will get closer to Earth will be in 2029 when an 885-foot asteroid called 99942 Apophis comes within 20,000 miles, said Donald Yeomans of NASA's Near-Earth Object Program at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena."

So that's OK then?

Not really too much you can say about it. I haven't got a lens that will reach that far!!!!

You've got some nice pics on your gallery, but just how many cameras do you own??????

I haven't either!!

But, given how they kept its arrival so quiet, what good would one have been?

Thanks!

Since getting started in digital back in 2002, I've bought on average one P&S camera a year, plus I traded in most of my film kit for a Canon D60 back in 2003 and in 2006 got a 350D/Rebel something - though neither of those gets an awful lot of use.

All but one of the cameras still work, and I try to give each an outing every so often - despite some being noticably creaky now!

... that is, you DO have a lens that will reach that far!!

Much less than the earth-moon distance (will your lenses capture that?), the earth-sun distance (conveniently, one AU, or about 93 megamiles). Heck, you can easily see stars and galaxies naked-eye that are thousands of light-years distant.

The below link is usually pretty good to check out about once a month to see if anything is incoming, although they don't seem to be updating it quite as frequently, and DD45 especially seems to have not been put in advance of it's arrival, but usually they list them well before the news catches on.
