A*85mm @ 1.4 on K20D

I don't really understand the point of this...sure, it has really shallow DOF "as we all know" but there are more things capable of even shallower DOF.

Please show more pictures that expose the full capabilities of this great lens.

Thanks Fred!

Sure has thin DOF wide open.
Sure does, very thin...

Based on what I see, I'd say the lens also suffers from longitudinal chromatic aberation... bummer. Almost perfect.

A tilt lens might do the job very well... a 300mm F/2.8 too. But heck, a 85mm F/1.4 really does have very shallow DOF and that's without having to stand 14 feet from your subject (300mm) and it's much easier to use (tilt lens).

Exactly, even a macro lens can give you such shallow DOF. Now if the photograph was taken using manual lens, manual cameras or even large format view cameras, then I would be amazed by the selective focusing technique. However....

Yet, I respect that the OP have an expensive lens and camera, and this photograph surely is more artistic than anything I could ever take, so:

"Congratulation!!! Great Selective Focus!!!!"

Nice focusing control.
I gave up on manual focus a while a go: way too few keepers. Getting old...
