Hallo!

i would ask you if you know where i can buy a camera trigger (like a laser sensor or something like that)...

I have in my garden a family of hedgehogs and would like to take some pictures, but they are very shy and they move just during the night time....

And in any case i would like tu know what the market offer for this king of photography...

Thx a lot

The ability to 'see' the shot is more important than the gear.... and remember, a camera is a tool, not a religion.

There are many sellers of these on Ebay, with solutions for most DSLR cameras. If you are using a poit and shoot, this is more difficult.

The unit is a 2 part, radio frequency "cable release". It has two parts. One attaches to the camera remote socket, the other is the transmitter.

Here's the part you want... the transmitter in some of them has an IR beam. Once set up, if something breaks that beam, the camera shutter is triggered. It's just like the IR door chimes in a lot of businesses. I have no idea what these would cost in Switzerland, but they seem to run less than US $50.

Or you could get one of the "game" cameras mentioned above.

If you want to be the controller, simply place the camera on a tripod, aligned to the area in which you expect your hedgehogs to appear. Set up as needed for time of day or night, with or without flash. Add one cheap Chinese radio controlled shutter release, and sit. When you see what you wish to see in front of the camera, fire away at will. Most of those $29.95 plus shipping remote releases on eBay will work at something over 15 meters, some as far away as five times that.

i'm sorry...i would like to have a remote automatica trigger...that mean a movement sensor with a transmitter to send the command to my D300...the transmitter in some of them has an IR beam, as Caoedhen said before...

with my bad english i do not know if you understand me correctly...

Some of the Zigview products have built in motion detectors:

I don't know how well they work, but you may be able to find a review on the web.

Bushnell has several here in the U.S. A friend has a couple of film units. The photos are generally unimpressive, as they're meant mostly for checking game trails. It's the whole camera, though. It just straps on a tree or stands on a tripod. Most use flash, IIRC.

Some of the newer game cameras use IR LED's as a light source, so you don't spook the subject with a flash. Depending on the specific unit, range is up to about 15 feet for LED array.

Picture quality is just about what you'd expect. Good enough to see what it was that tripped the shutter, and of course the picture is green and gray.
