I would appreciate a dedicated Samsung forum here at dpreview.com (although I am from germany and my english could be better), but using the 'other digicams' forum worked in the past, too.
Since 2006 Samung's camera division made big efforts to reach their goal of becoming one of the leading camera manufacturers - with varying success. There were very ambitious models and a lot of less distinguishable cameras, but at least some of them can be praised for build quality and design, their feature set and/or IQ (yes, really!). Most often you get Samsung cameras at a very reasonable price, especially some months after their debut on the market.
While not as consistently good as Canon might be, most of Samsung's cameras can easily compete with models of Casio, Pentax, Olympus, Kodak and Ricoh - and some Samsungs are good enough to challenge the best in their class from Canon, Fuji and Sony. Unfortunately almost every Samsung camera has a weak spot, which is paticularly annoying as Samsung proved in other models, that they could do better even in this area.
I do hope that Samsung consistently works on improving their cameras, whether there is a forum here at dpreview or not - but it might be an incentive to do so? ;-)
