Weren't you the same guy that recommended the Tibetan Monk G2 User's Group website?

:-\
G2 fans,

this is an excellent which has a lot of information about G2, but
it's in japanese. Don't ask me to explain things as I don't
understand japanese either. :P

There is also a comparison between G2 and CP5700, I highly
recommend you click on "ALL" the links and check out all the cool
pictures and stuff!

enjoy!!!

I been reading your recent posts
about conversion lens and just want to ask you about best wide
converter lens for G-2. Any suggestions?
I will rate several lenses as follows;

1. WCON-08(Oly) 2. WC-DC58(Canon) 3. Tiffen0.75x 4. Raynox DCR-720

The larger the lens becomes, the clearer picture we get.
Appropriate magnification is around 0.7x.
Smaller magnification, for example, 0.6x or 0.5x makes the picture blurred.
If you like distortion, you can get smaller magnification lenses.

Hi, everyone.
I'll talk about the adapters for G2.

Kenko adapter (52mm, silver)
It's very funtional

Hakuba adapter (52mm, silver)
It has very beautiful curves

Hakuba adapter (43mm, silver)
Very popular in Japan and meybe in this forum
Best fit to the lens and no too extra space around the lens; very tight

Lensmate adapter (49mm, champagne color)
Best fit to G2 in color
Finish is very great though a little expensive
Its inside is painted black to prevent random reflection of light

Tiffen adapter (43mm, black)
Tighter than Hakuba 43mm adapter
The quality is so so

Canon adapter (58mm, black, plastic)
Only this adapter is made of plastic.
Too big
58mm filter is very expensive
Maybe fit to G2 Black

Any adapter above blocks internal flash to some extent at wide side.
Any adapter above blocks G2 optical finder to some extent.
There is no exception about this.

I have many 52mm filters and 52mm conversion lenses, so I use 52mm adapter, Kenko or Hakuba. When I'd like to care about the appearance, I use Hakuba 43mm adapter or Lensmate adapter.

Each picture of the adapter is on my website.

Kazutoku-san:

Only one thing I would add to your list is that you will need either a step-up ring or step-down ring if you use 52mm filter. I too use Lensmate lens adapter for 52mm UV, PL, and close-up lens since I can use them for EF lenses and thus I bought step-up ring from Lensmate (49-> 52mm)

I wouldn't go 43-> 52mm or 58-> 52mm since the difference in diameter is a bit too large.

I also have a Hakuba lens adapter for Tiffen Wide converter and clear lens protector for 43mm.

Hi Everyone,
This is mine first time participating in this forum.

I chanced upon this site when I was researching for a digital camera ... a Nikon CP5000 (now CP 5700) and Canon G2.

I have a question for Mr Kazutoku san.... in your earlier postings, you hinted that you were waiting for a G3. While I understand that there isnt any offical announcement, it seems that there is a lot of anticipation of the G3. Since you are in Japan where corporate Canon is, what news are you getting over at your end with regards to a G3?
Thanks
Hi, Nice to see you again.
I've made Englsih Menu page, but the contents are still Japanese.
I'll try to translate them into English soon. Please wait for a
while if you are interested in my pages.

Thank you for asking.
But unfortunately, I have no information about G3 even in Japan.

I translated your page using Altavista's translation service. Not all the words translate properly. An example is "5700, the yellow is flowing". How do you find the 5700 compared to the G2?

5700 is a good 5M pixels model, which can be all-arounder from macro picutres to ultra tele photoes (8.0x zoom). It takes very clear picture that is a size larger than G2's. It is rather easy to control the camera manually. But The picture from RAW images of 5700 is much lower in quality than those of G2. G2 is better because of BreezeBrower. It is a strong tool to make JPEG or TIFF from RAW Images through "combined" mode. The color of 5700 is rather modest compared to G2. As I'm comfortable with the vivid color G2 gives to me, I cannot help thinking the color of 5700 is too neutral. And when we take a picture of yellow objects (for example, yellow flowers) in the sun by 5700, it gets some white parts or points, which are assumed to be yellow. So we need exposure compensation.
