Why doesn't DPR chime in with some help, additional info, or opinion? It's not like we're not all going to read the official review anyway, right? I just don't understand why they don't participate more actively.

You aren't seriously suggesting that they should confirm or deny speculation about a specific camera? That would be completely inappropriate. They are an independent site and must remain that way to keep their credibility.

The complaints about the 'untimely' fashion that the reviews are done here by DPr will really flare up if DPr is involved in the (at times boring) threads here. I seriously don't think they would simply sit on the website just waiting to 'chime in' on a G10, LX3 or F200 thread - they just don't have the time.

I have actually been fairly happy lately with the quality/quantity of their reviews so I'd expect a 'quality' F200EXR review and am hoping for a 'quality' Canon SX1 review as well - since it's the 1st CMOS Canon P&S. Also remember the F200EXR was just recently announced so why not be patient and wait like everyone else for some more accurate data and reviews on the F200EXR?

given the claims of high DR and high ISO that the F200 makes, plus the fact that the Fuji F-series has had traditionally one of the highest IQ of any camera in their class, you can be sure that Phil, Simon and the team are quite aware of this camera.

They let most of the 1/2.3" ccd 3x zoom compacts go by without a review, as they are typical and uninteresting. However, I'm confident that we'll see a review of this beast. You won't hear anything from them until they've completed their tests and have reviewed their results internally. They're seldom the first review out, and over the last year (with the exception of the holiday season) have been focussed on (pun intended) DSLRs.

I also expect (hope for?) a comparison between the TZ7 (ZS3), Canon SX200, Samsung HZ15W, maybe even the Ricoh CX1 and the Oly 9000. Although I'll bet I could write the review right now (based on past history of these manufacturers) with reasonable accuracy ;) .

... Truth is, DPR will not 'chime' in. Their 'modus operandi' is well established.

Those who are contentious, are just trying to 'sell' the latest and greatest they bought. After all, possession is the first grounds for defence.

From what I see, the F200EXR looks pretty good. Will I buy one ? Not sure just yet. Waiting to see what else FUJI may offer, but the F200EXR images look pretty compelling.

I don't think it's reasonable to expect them to intervene in the forums, but they did at least post some preview shots - which makes it pretty clear a review and their opinion is to follow...

And I'd bet on it being fairly quick ... because this is exactly what DPR have been on about with every review lately ... the answer to the proliferation of megapixels is to go backwards and drop resolution for high ISO.

The fact that we got a clever dynamic range extension out of it is just a bonus. Of course, we'll see what they about it all ...

Truer words were never spoken, and I applaud your candor and honesty, belated though it be, S100fs guy. :)

... Who wanted a nicer and gentler Dave ?

Love my S100fs.

You missed it, my latest and greatest was the A850. Now, there is a neat little camera. Less than a hundred bucks and it takes great images. Don't get knotted about it though :

I am with you on this, I want to know more about the Samsung and the Panny. I am holding with my F30 until it just stops working, but a longer lens would be very very nice.
