25 more eagles with new 1D Mark III

Looking at your website's eagles I'd say certainly no worse - a number of them I can barely make out the eye, and some no detail in the talons. As I said, I don't sharpen as much after downsampling (plus this is a new body and I am still experimenting around with PP).

Gene
Honestly......better than 50% of these absolutely are not at what I'd
call critical sharpness...even when displayed at this size for web.

How many of the images have adequate head sharpness ....seriously?

You noted that you don't like to overly sharpen your images and that
"the detail speaks for itself",....as a wildlife / bird shooter
myself, I simply don't see critically sharp focus here.

..much into bird photography but your images make me want to start shooting them. These are among some of the finest Eagle shots I've seen. You've done a great job at catching some amazing photos and I can easily say that anyone who would disagree with me just plain has bad taste or is envious.

Simply stunning. Great work and I'll make sure to click on more of your fine work.

I expect it was you that complained and got this moved ouit of the 1D thread. Thanks jerk.
Firt off...the tonme isn't in question.

Secondly, no matter which manufacturers equipment you're using, the
original file needs to be sharp enough so that when you process it,
you can acheive what i'll call critical sharpness.

Being sonewhat OOF just doesn't cut it...no matter whose equipment it
is.

. . . . The bottom line is that your photos are a LOT better than his. Now there's a new audience in this forum to see it for themselves.

All I can say is wow... Thank you for sharing this amazing series.

Totally greed. Funny that he did not even bother to hide his Pbase link when he made those idiotic comments. I had a hard time try to figure out what he meant by focus and critical sharpness.

From what I can see, you both have some great shots. However, looking at your pBase pages, I'm not quite sure why you feel you have a basis for making the statements you've made. Your shots are no better in terms of "sharpness" when compared to Gene's. Percentage wise, I'd say less than 50% of your shots are what I'd consider sharp.

Sorry, but I just find your criticisms odd.
