Title says it all. Any advice welcome.

Thanks...

Thanks for the humour. Humour aside the 14-24 is razor sharp, touted by some as the best wide zoom Nikon ever made. I have one but no time to use it!!

As mentioned, the Sigma is a DX lens, so you'll loose many of your pixels. Beside that fact, the Nikkor goes a bit wider (Sigma is 15-30 on DX, as the Nikkor starts at 14 with FX). That's just a mm, but makes a big difference. On the other hand, the Nikkor iss a huge lens with an impressive front element - the Sigma is much more compact.

You proably confused the Sigma 10-20 (for DX) with the Sigma 12-24 (for FX). I know several people who have this lens on a D700 or a D3 and like it. Of course, its corner sharpness wide open is not as good as the 14-24mm and its max aperture is only 4.5-5.6, but if you can live with that (e.g. if you do not use the extreme wideangles that often), it's quite a bit cheaper than the Nikon lens. And it is the widest (rectilinear) available wideangle lens for Nikon (122°)...
