Is D90 weather sealed?

Stop whining about in body IS. Ask anyone who's used in-body and
in-lens stabilization and they will tell you that in-lens
stabilization is waaaay better. The worst problem with in-body
stabilization is its worse in the tele end, where stabilization is
needed most! Newer in-lens stabilization provides upto 4/5 stops of
stabilization (see Canon 18-200mm review on DPR posted today) that
actually stands upto controlled tests compared to in-body
stabilization.
Can you provide any references to these stabilization tests? Is in body IS worse than no IS?

The cool thing about in body IS, is that you can buy old lenses (fx. 50 mm f/1.4) and get a really fast comibination. The new Nikkor AF-S 35 mm f/1.8 doesn't have VR.

I would pick ergonomics over weather sealing any day. If you shoot in inclement weather alot just get a raincover as others have suggested. If something does not "feel or fit" right you will notice it all the time every pic you take. For me that would get annoying real quick.

http://www.adorama.com/OTRSL.html I have a couple of these in my bag all the time and folded they will fit in my wallet.

Hi Niras

Yes and no, way back in the days of fully manual SLRs, getting a good soaking in rain water wasn't too much to worry about, but once batteries were included, the issues were exactly the same as today, use a soaked camera and you shorted it out.

The 40 or so years does also include DSLRs.

The point being, take basic care of your D90 when it rains and you have no reason to fear. I have a D300, but treat that the same as my D80 and D90.

How many pics do folk take in heavy rain? But for when it's wet and taking pics is a must, you can use a weather jacket, padded are best because they help keep temperatures stable. Unless I was a pro taking pics predominantly in wet weather, I wouldn't put weather sealing at the top of my list, water can still get into the D300.
