Aviation with A700 + 100-400

Forgive me for being so bold please. But your images are so small that it is impossible to see any quality that may be present.
May I suggest that you post your photo's no less that 800 at the long side.
I would love to be able to see your photo's and I have excellent vision.
Thank you.

I hate to beat a dead horse here but you have some beautiful photos here and, like stated by Mr. Solus said, they are too small. I really wanted to see them so I went to the link and the photos were sooooo big that I could only see a small % of it on my screen. I'd like to see a screen size photo somehow so I can enjoy and appreciate your work. On the website that holds the large image I tried to figure out how to shrink it some but couldn't and gave up after a while. Any suggestions on how to enjoy your photos in a size that’s bigger than a stamp and smaller than the jet ;-) Thank you.

What airport were these nice pictures taken ? It must have been Europe, though I can't determine where....

I went to the site to see if I could post them for the OP at a normal size, and the hosting site wouldn't allow it. They only allow tiny pictures which really suck, so it wasn't the OP choosing.. otherwise he would have had to post the entire picture which would've taken awhile for some to download.

Out of courtesy, he provided the link to the bigger picture. I was about to grill him myself for posting such tiny pictures, but thankfully went to the site to see what's up and found the truth!

Now... to the OP.. awesome and wonderful pictures. I love pictures of planes and with the H-50 that I had in the past, the pictures came out not so good at 100% but okay at screen size. I now have the a300 so I look forward to taking pictures to see what my results will be. Thank you for the inspiration and thank you for posting the pictures. They are brilliant!

Some new shots from my combo, hope you like them
Sure wish I had the skill and "eye" to make such superb shots.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Comments are appreciated :)
Well, I was going to comment on how small they were.... being blind, I guess,

I missed the links underneath.... I guess I was too hasty at looking at the pics.

Thank heavens there was someone else who pointed out the links I missed...
it prevented me from proving I can't read.... ;)

Where were you situated for each of the pictures... a couple of them
seem to have been taken from "up above" or in another plane.... or on
a mountainside. Amazingly sharp! Were you setting the camera manually,
and if so, what settings? I can't, for the life of me, get such sharp pictures.

A tribute to talent, I believe. :)

Again, thanks for sharing. I always love plane shots!

Dani,
I just wonder...do you clean up the images, there is hardly any noise or grain ?

I was recently at Zeltweg shooting Eurofighters and even with snow reflecting I saw a lot of grain in the shadows (not processed yet)
regards,
Bernd

The results that you got from the 100-400APO are simply spectacular - I have one of these babies too. BTW thanks for th links to the larger images....Eye candy on my 22" LCD.

Your skill and the quality of the APO is competently demonstrated in a all lighting conditions (I had a quick look through your galleries on the host website), to the extent that you have reinforced my doubts as to why I am even considering replacing my KM APO with the new Sony 70-400G.

It would be interesting to hear how this APO performs on the a900 - maybe a slightly different story than when it is on the a700? I hear that Dennis Mullen has the KM100-400 APO/a900 combo and likes it.

Very interested in viewing the EXIF on these...please? Did you need to do much PP on them - what do you use LR2?

Thanks for posting - great work!

Regards
Steve

Shoot True - You only get one chance!

Hi Gil!

Thx for your nice comment!

No I am not in another plane taking the pictures :-)

They are all taken from the ground

What settings I use?

I shot in RAW, use Lightroom for developing. Sometimes when the light is not the best (bad weather) I use a monopod, but usually I take my pictures only with SSS

Aperture on the 100-400 APO from 7.1 and above, wide open is okay, but a little bit softer, my copy is very sharp even at 400mm

ISO 100-400, depending on the light

Best regards,

Dani

Hi Bernd!

No I never clean up my images, I don't like it, because of the big loss of details. The A700 has really good noise levels, I usually use ISO 100-400, when the light is really bad sometimes 800, but then I nearly never visit the airport

Hi

Really love your number 4. Its a great shot especially with the mountain in the background. Looks very dramatic and i bet it was a white knuckle ride for the passengers! Nice work.
