Has anyone ordered and received a d60 from Glazer's in Seattle? They've had my $500 deposit for two months and they still won't say how many units are coming in, or how far I am still down on the list, other than 'you're not way down there, but you're down there' and don't expect it in the next couple weeks.

I've been fairly pleased with my dealings with them in the past, but you'd think for 500 bucks I would at least get some actual information. I'm tempted to find another line to stand in.

Just curious how long others have had to wait for Glazers to ship theirs...

I got mine several months ago from Optechs, they were asking for a $500 deposit and Glazer's was not. 120 people on Glazers list, 6 on Optech's. I got mine in 4 weeks, and that was at the height of the waiting lists.

I never shop at Glazers, people are rude to amatures. I guess the pros like them.

I have experienced the same rudeness myself before, but in the past year or so, they have been pretty decent.

I shop at Optechs too, and was in just a couple weeks ago. They only had a list of 13, but said that they had only shipped about 6 cameras since they came on the market. You must be one of the lucky ones!

I had called Glazers but when they wanted a "non-refundable" deposit, I told them no thanks. I hope it comes through for you soon. But with Glazers you do not have the flexibility of getting on multiple waiting lists, unfortunately.

Try Kenmore Camera. I was on a waiting list there for less than two weeks. I was 7th in the list. http://www.kcamera.com

You are right Peter. The people at Kenmore are very nice. I was on their waiting list and just canceled today because my order was filled by Neptune Photo today.
Vey nice people.

Several weeks ago when I was looking for a D60 I contacted Glazer's. I did so on two different occasions and spoke to two different salespeople. Both had a bit of an "attitude" but said that if I made the deposit described above, they would have a D60 for me in short order (I don't recall the exact time frame quoted, so I won't quote it here, but it was very brief.) Each time I was told that they were able to get D60's when other dealers weren't.

For some reason what I was told did not seem appropriate (especially since I know quite a few dealers and the word I got from each re: D60 availability was fairly consistent). The attitude was arrogant and the business practices shady.

...I was in the Seattle area a couple of weeks ago and heard the complaints Frank raised here locally.

Just like any camera store, Glazers has good and bad employees. That said, opinions are like you know whats and everyone has one.

I was on the Glazers waiting list for 10 weeks for a D60 and gave up. I bought a second used D30 and will wait until the next gen camera comes out to buy something with more power.

As for Glazers; While their policy on deposits is that they are non-refundable, I have always been allowed to put such deposits toward other items such as a different camera or lens, film, etc. Those who are not afforded such courtesy most probably brought their own attitude to the table and probably got what they deserved.

I always deal with Michael Smith at Glazers and there isn't a nicer guy on the planet.

My two cents....

I've been dealing with consumer protection matters for 21 years.

It's amazing how many victims say to me, "But he was such a nice man."

I always respond, "Of course he was. If he was obnoxious would you have bought from him?"

The fact remains, however, that Glazers took money upon a promise to deliver and did not deliver. I know this because I had two separate conversations with them and got the same message that the deposit would guarantee a D60 in short order (I believe he said a week although it may have been two weeks. I didn't post the specific time frame quoted because I didn't write it down and did not want to be misquoted. The fact that I knew better immediately turned me off. Sad to see that others got taken.)
