My wife sues a Finepix V10 at school. She was very happy with it but it is broken. I know nothing about compacts, so could someone suggest a replacement around the same price point?

Am just going to look through the article you've flagged up, but I've just found out that the camera cost £185 in 2006 in the UK and is a 5Mpix model. Probably something of a similar quality would do so I guess there would be something cheaper now with similar performance.

Thanks for the followup info. If your budget can go to £160 that will fetch a Canon IXUS 85 or Sony W170. Both are really nice ultracompacts with optical image stabilization. Check the reviews here and at other camera sites for detailed info on these.
