I´m a happy owner of Finepix E900. The new F200XR looks good, but where are such features like RAW or HD movie? Why Fuji incorporate the RAW only to the ultrazooms (most with the small sensor of 1/2,33´´)? Their RAW converter (for free) is very good, why they don´t support this possibility?

I would like somethimng like E900 version 2009! Do it plesae...

Me too, the F200EXR is just a consumer P&S.
I'm still taking pictures with my beloved F700.
Fuji has not released yet a camera that makes me upgrade.
F810 being the only exception.

By not including HD video in the F200EXR I think this is a smart marketing move.

To be honest, EXR is a mega break through already. EXR technology is enough to win votes from people sitting on the fence.

Only a few people like you will not buy due to the lack of the HD video.

You can wait another generation and I am sure this function will be there. In the meantime, I am getting the F200EXR now.

The responses on this camera are interesting. The camera is a compact P&S. RAW in a compact P&S? Who is going to use that? 2% of the users at best? Fuji clearly isn't targeting advanced photographers with this camera. Fuji I am quite sure figures that being the case, there's no sense in adding advanced extras that won't get used.

their compacts really would have the capability to do so - but many times Fuji guys just failed to do so by only few (missing) features. In case of F200EXR, it's similar: Camera looks very promising, just add some more things and it will find its way to the pockets of many DSRL users. Features like...
  • histogram
  • RAW
  • faster lens (would provide us with an unbeatable fast compact...)
Now, that would be a chance to create a must-have P&S for advanced photographers - it's far from impossible ;-)

I would agree with you except for the price point. The average consumer won't pony up the $400 list price based on just the promise of "good looking photos". Most people don't exhaustively research before buying - they just head to the store and compare the lineup of prices and boxes. Fuji thinks there are enough knowledgeable - and serious - buyers for this product.

But I'm also surprised at no RAW and HD Video - both which should clearly be within the capabilities of that hardware.

RAW is not that important with high pixel density point&shoots.
It's so noisy to being useless.
Fuji should have offered ISO50 or ISO20 on this cam.

I agree... I saw the EXR-sensor on the photokina and I loved the idea. I was hoping fuji would finally make a P&S worthy enough to replace the F700. The sensor should be good enough, but it is missing some things...

However, I still love the concept of the EXR-sensor. So I will give it a chance, 'till i have the chance to play with it in a shop.

They say the F200 also has a manual function, does anybody know if this is full manual? Or just shutter-priority and aperature-priority, just like the F10/F30/etc?

Will there ever be a camera as good as the F700? Now the LX3 seems to be the only compact that has everything, but i would like to see a fuji-CCD in it :P.

By the way, I own both the F700 and the F810, but the Super CCD-HR of the F810 is NO match for the Super CCD-SR of the F700. I never use the F810 anymore...

But I am still hoping for a good replacement for the F700 one day. Maybe an F700EXR? :D

Happy shooting everyone!
