E-30 - Tomorrow

get those pictures out ;-)

I am looking to purchase an E-30 in Apriil so i can't wait to see all the results everyone is getting.

Just thought I'd let you all know, my E-30 arrives tomorrow.
I can't wait to get stuck into it.

I'll post some images over the weekend.
Your dpreview profile indicates you might be in Australia. Isn't it tomorrow there already?

I got mine about 10 days ago and am really impressed.

Spot on James.
You were more awake than me at that time of night.
It is morning now and not long till I get it.

I'll let you know.

Dolly,

I'm also here in Oz and getting more interested in the E-30 to upgrade or supplement my 510 and E-1.

I look forward to hearing what you think. What are you upgrading from or comparing to?

And seeing the Australian 'release' of the E-30 is still a week or two away, I'm wondering where you purchased the E-30 from, if you don't mind posting that?

what did you get with it and at what price?

I am interested in purchasing one.

Thanks
Dennis

Hi

I have one as well (with a fault see post). I am impressed as well. I am coming from an E510 and I think that the shutter on the E30 is pretty loud. Compared to an E1 the sound is a real clack!

I have only heard mine though. What do you think?

You really have something to look forward to. I have had mine for seven days tomorow.

Noice is quite a bit lower, I feel the images are usable up to ISO1600 for A4 size prints. I did some pixel peeping as well today on some test shots. From ISO400 you can easily spot less noice. (Set up on a tripod, using the 50mm for max sharpness and control.)

I have not got to check the DR much yet, but it feels its quite a bit better than my not so old E-510. Now I am just looking for some more light, and not so cold weather....

Here is a snap shot I took this morning at ISO1600. "Developed" in LR2 with just a touch of noice reduction. (and made smaller when I export it from the RAW file)

Where did you buy your camera from in Australia and if you don't mind how much? I'm upgrading from a 510.

While I am in no way endorsing any sellers, I just had a very good experience ordering the E-30 from abroad. (Easy to find with a search on the well-known auction site, if the deal is still there)

I saved $100 US and it came in a week, with warranty and a memory card. Considering I would have needed to wait however long it takes for Adorama or B&H to get it in stock and then purchase it for full price and wait for shipping, it was a no-brainer.

Knowing usual prices in AUS are much higher than here in the States, savings would account to much more for you guys most likely.

I'm afraid it's not like that any more. The exchange rate is a killer now plus anything over $1000AU and we have to pay tax on top of that. With all that, it is now cheaper to get it from Australia. Up until the world went into a nose dive I bought all my gear from America.

have not checked the exchange rates in a while I guess. What is the expected introductory price for the E-30 in Australia, do you know? (In US equiv.)

Luckily my package was marked as gift, and just sailed through customs, but also - at least for the US - foreign orders usually do not get taxed as long as the item is intended for personal use, and not for re-sale.

For the body only in a local store but no stock, it's listed price is $1142 US but online in a Southern State it is $1016 US.

The American price is $1300 US (I think) plus conversion, plus delivery, plus Australian tax. So you see it's cheaper here.

I'm curious about images you got from the E-30 that arrived "tomorrow." Anything you want to share at this time?

Well I've been flat out busy, I have finally had time to add some images.

Hopefully the images are able to be viewed.

I enjoyed your photos. I flipped through quite a number of them. Which lens(es)?

What are your impressions of the camera? Are you having any buyer's remorse with the announcement of the E-620?
