Listen, I have the same budget and posting a similar question here
was kind of useless. I found out through days of research that the
best buy for the money is a Canon A-40. Great night shots which no
nikon or sony will match, super point and shoot options plus a
looot of manual settings. There's lens for it, even and underwater
case! Picture quality is very cool, without any weird purple
aberrations or nasty pixelation (like the low budget nikons do). It
uses AA batteries so no need for special expensive batteries. The
real deal man. You would find that there is a problem with it and
that is a zooming/focusing issue, but there is a fix on their site
to solve it. Also (if you are a mac user) there was an issue with
Mac OS X which has been solved since Mac OS x 1.1.4, and iPhoto
works like a charm with the camera. Man, for the price, I haven't
seen better image quality.
Just get a battery charger, if you don't already have one, very
handy for many other in house gadgets anyways and a larger CF card
(I recommend a 128 MB card from crucial (which is owned by micron -
http://www.crucial.com ) for only 48 bucks (If you live in the US) and free
shipping. Granted, its not a top performer as far as speed but very
cheap and good memory card.
Luis.
Hi!
Im about to buy my first digital camera and I have about $250 to
spend.
I would like to know wich one have more image quality, Sony
DSC-P31 or a Nikon Coolpix 2000. I know that Nikon have a 3X
Optical Zoom and the memory card is cheaper.
But how about the image quality?
Does Nikon Coolpix 2000 have manual exposure and aperture control?
Thanks!
