Hi all,

I've been doing lots of research and have found lots of different opinions on the fx37 vs fx500 debate.

Does anyone have a say on this now that it's been a few months on from the last review I've seen?

The fx500 sounds pretty good but I'm a little slow to get a camera with a touch screen given that it's a relatively new technology and a bit early to know what problems might occur with it.

Thanks,
Wallace

The fx 500 has a bit more in the way manual controls if thats any benefit to you.

The IQ will be roughly the same not much in it. I dont think there is to much to worry about the touch screen facilities on the 500, i have not heard of any problems. You might want to look at Panasonics new offerings there is approx half a dozen new models that have just come out, maybe the FS15 might fit the bill ??
Ps I have an fx37.

have a look on the fx150/180.. about the same budget..

about the same size as the fx500, no touch screen, but better optics (28-100), and larger CCD, with many advanced options and also easy to operate.
has better IQ than fx500/fx37 (same optics/CCD), 14.7MP.

also fx37 will be replaced by fx40, and fx500 will be replaced by fx580 - this will happen in april, they already announced those cameras.

right now there's no fx150 replacement annouced (it's newer than fx37/500)... it'll probably happen Q2-Q3 2009.

Thanks to both suggestions. I'm trying to look for a camera with 5x optical so the fx150 isn't really a good match for that even though it does look like a pretty good camera.

I might just wait to see what comes out in the next month and how it affects the prices of the fx37 and fx500.

FX500 price is dropping fast. I picked a silver one up from Amazon tonight for $174.29 (the black is $20 or so more).
