I've decided that I should get another website for myself. One that'll be just for my photos that I think are some of my best, and to use along with any future business I may set up. Initially I'd just have business cards set up with this company name, that would have the URL on it. Along with an email like [email protected] or [email protected] .. I'd set up this email account to just forward to my real email account.
PS -- readyhosting.com seems to have a pretty good deal. $99 a year for 500 MB of space, unlimited bandwith (unless you start shutting down the server -- LOL -- so no porn sites, probably), unlimited emails, AND they pay for your registration (as long as it's a new name that they set up).
Now for the hard part. Coming up with a name.
I could always "steal" from Steve Mitchell and use something lilke DigiConcertPix.com . . . . but he'd probably sue me!
Or I could try something more clever like TwangThangPhotos.com . . . but a songwriter in Nashville already has TwangThang as his band name and publishing name.
But, those two names show the two different conflicting types of names I'm considering:
1) a name that basically says what I do (concert photography)
2) a name that's a bit more clever, and is geared more towards the type of music I like to photograph
I'd love to combine the two styles, but I'm not quite sure how well that'd turn out. TwangThangConcertPix.com . . . . hmmmmmmmm.
That works (I wouldn't use TwangThang because I know somebody that has it . . . but you get the picture), but then I have an awfully long URL name.
Thoughts?
I'm leaning, I guess, towards something like the latter, even though it means a long URL name.
If I chose a name (let's use Twang Thang as an example), would it be advisable to have the name of the business be
Twang Thang Photography and Video (the "and video" I'm still thinking about), but a URL name of TwangThangConcertPix.com ?
Or is it better to have the URL name and the business name match more closely?
eg,
Twang Thang Photo
and
TwangThangPhoto.com
?
