My latest city pano. Its not perfect, I rushed, but I was itching to get out and try the new 50D.

This is a rather large image, but it needed to be a bit bigger to appreciate some of the detail.

Since getting the new camera I have ran into another issue, MEMORY!!! My 6 year old computer just doesn't cut it anymore. I keep running out of memory during the processing stages. Its a 2.4GHZ P4 with a Gig of RAM...LOL...stoneage nowadays.

Anyways, here it is.

Gret pic! There must be a lot of detail in it.

I am still laughing at your specs, my 6YO computer has exactly the same processor and RAM, boy does it take for ever to develop RAW, let alone do stitching....

Are you using Canon photo stitch or the freeware one (auto stitch I think it is??)? What lens and settings did you use? Great Pano even if it was a rush job! :)

I thought photography was about the images not fan boys! Enjoy your Photographic weapon of choice. I know I do!

Quite nice. On my terribly inaccurate laptop screen I see blocky patches in the sky, thanks to the screwy gamma that shows the shadows extremely well. Just something to watch out for, though I doubt it'll show on a print.

Funny, your PC has almost exactly the same spec as my desktop does, I guess I'll have to be glad that my camera only has 8 mp.

Thanks for the comments guys. This was 10 images merged with Autopano Pro. The lens was a Canon EF-S 17-55 mm F2.8 IS USM.

Each file while working in RAW is roughly 17MB, so when you are working with 10 in total it really puts a hurt on my old computer.

I'm gonna trade this old boy in for a new quad processor, 5GB of RAM, and a whizzy new graphics card.

That is a beautiful pano! It makes me want to go back for another visit to Calgary - what a lovely city and surrounding area. And you captured it so nicely.

If you really want to test the limits of your computer, shoot it again and at each of the 10 shots, do -1EV, 0EV and +1 EV and then process as an HDR! That would be cool looking, but I think your computer would catch on fire. :O)

I've been experimenting with HDR Panos and I still have not settled on a good way to do them. A photographer that does them quite well uses uses AEB and gets three shots at each position, processes each set of three with Photomatix and then puts the photomatix output into Photoshop to stitch the pano. His look awesome. He said the key is to process each of the HDRs identically in Photomatix so that the tones and colors will all match for the stitching. I haven't tried it yet.

Wow, such nice compliments. I kind of feel bad for doing such a rush job on it now. I think I will go back out tonight and retake it, this time taking my time.

Hopefully the weather cooperates.

"...doing such a rush job..." You gotta be kidding. You, sir, are a master technician. Can't imagine getting it (much) better.

Re. new computer - Just remember, that if you are using a PC, they can only USE a max of 3GB of RAM (unless you go for 64bit system, of which not much software has been written for yet). Yes, you can put 5GB in, but it will only use 3GB - its a 32 bit structure problem.

Not sure if that problem exists with a Mac, but probably.

And great work with the pano!

Gone birding...

Great exposures. I don't see that many that look that good. The lens stands up to it's reputation.

I have made my decision. Don't confuse me with the facts.
