Hi All
Just a quick question?
With all the talk of noise etc I have been having second thoughts about the 7i.
At the moment I use mostly 35mm camera's with the exception of a Kodak DC3400.

Would like to have more versitility with a digital camera and thought that the 7i sounded like a dream come true.

Is the 7i the best in its range?

Thanks

I'm inexperienced in digital photography, so my opinion here holds little weight, I suppose. That said, onward .....

Noise? I really think this issue has been blown out of proportion. Look at the many, many 7i photos on the Internet. Look into NeatImage.

Print some of them out. If what you see bothers you? Don't buy the D7i.

For me? The D7i IS a "dream come true". Best? ... I say that for 8 - 9 hundred dollars, it's not easily bested by anything I've read about.

Hi,

now that you've read about noise (way overblown, in my opinion), actually go and see some. Very few of these pictures have been treated with Neat Image and I've had the camera for only 6 weeks. Once I learn how to use it, I'm sure it will produce MUCH better images.

Good Morning!

I have been using my X-700 in Manual, Auto, Program mode for 17years. and same thing here, what about the noise issue!!!!! I make the jump to the 7i mainly due to all control i have on the picture i take. And like seing the many example on the web of pic i guessed i could live with that amount of noise.

Noise ? go check my pics on

http://www.pbase.com/alphaomega

some are from Minolta DimageX but look into Exif for all inf. all mainly 7i

None of those pics were retouch in any way, just maybe crop to smaller size but no resampling

Some people make mountains out of mole hills. All digital cameras have a problem with noise at the present time to one degree or another. Look what they are saying about the Nikon 5700. It is not a problem with the 7i. There are programs out that will clean up an image should you have a real problem. My advise...buy the camera, and enjoy it...it's one _ _ _ _ of a camera. I've had the 7 and sold it to buy the 7i. Just my 2 cents worth.

I am very much a amatuer in this field. I had a darkroom, in the 60's - 70s. Had Mamiya C3, had a Canon A1 and many others along the way. But really amateur work. I am on my third Video camera, and my Third Digital Still camera, first was a Kodak DC260, lots of great shots (1.6 MP) - have a Fuji 6800 for the convience - 3MP and I use my D7i. I looked at a lot of camera, did a lot of reading on this - I really don't think you can beat the D7i overall. I print, - I have two different Kodak Printers ( One is the SmartPrint, and the other is the Ret II series and a Canon Color Printer.

Sorry for all the backgrd. But just to say the noise issue is NOT hardly an issue unless you are planning to maybe print some huge prints. Certainly not a issue for screen viewing on very large monitor or TV screens.

Further, if you feel the need you can alway use Neat Image as many have said to furher clean things up.

But - again as many have said look at some of the posting. They are fantastic!! reallly!

Hope my vote for confidence is helpful

Thanks for the feed back have had a look at the pics on the 2 sites posted. The difference between the two sites is quite noticeable. Nitro's pics are very good but you can see the grain or noise as they say, yet Alex's pics the noise was not noticable.
Can anyone eplain why tis is apparent?

Thanks allso to John for his 2cents butwhat are they saying about the Nikon 5700?
