I am getting an LCD screen and would like to know which of the monitor calibration devices is best, either the Spyder 3 or Eye One. I have used an earlier version Spyder on my CRT screen but it does not do LCD versions.

Has anyone who has used both advise which they believe is best or those that have used either are you happy with the results of the one you have.

TIA.

I used the first version of the Spyder on my old CRT. I was using it with Monaco EZColor. It was a failure, and I returned the whole package. It might have been the software, but I did not like the results. Now I'm using the Pantone Huey Pro on my LCDs. I think it does a good job for little money. I need the pro version, because I am running two monitors. After calibration I cannot see any perceptible difference between them, and I have a full range of visible tones from 0 to 255 on a 2% gray step wedge.

I know she's maybe a bit dated, but I'm quite happy with the results
of the Eye One.

Satisfying and consistent results.
I agree ... have this one too ... works well on my CRT, LCD and Laptop. The software considers LCD and laptop as 2 different scenarios

Hi Lance,

For me the Spyder 3, is the preffered one tried a few others, but the spyder 3 gives me 3 virtually identical monitors., two LCD's and my laptops.

Ok make that four...

Very easy to work with I think.

Haven't used the Eye One calibration system, though.

I have an old NEC MultiSync Diamondtron FE991SB CTR monitor and I only need to calibrate once every two weeks at worst. (Usually once a month is enough.)

Very satisfied. :)

the original Spyder here. It's old now, but still working well with consistant monitor caliberation, every month, I'm sure whichever you choose will give you good service, mine must be around 9 or 10 years old now.
