You mean this bird will get bigger. then we can call it BiG BIRD. I'll have to keep an eye on our 80 pound dog when he's outside. Thank you for the Info.

No, not bigger, your dog is safe. It was already physically as big as it can get when it leaves the nest, now only its coloration will change, and after a few years, those yellow eyes will become a nasty red!
Excellent Photos! You have excellent photographic skills.
I'm very new to those manual settings, as FZ28 is my first camera with manuall settings. As you mentioned, the IA had bluish tint shade on photos, but still looked very good.
I love the hawk shot, in particular. I don't think I've gotten anything as good with my FZ18, although I give credit to you, the photograper and the nice light didn't hurt, either.
Jerry, Shortly before I took this shot I took a bad picture of a much smaller hawk with red eyes. When I viewed it on the computer screen I saw this much larger hawk on the far side of the same yard. After you told me it was a Cooper's hawk
I googled coopers hawk and clicked on Cooper's Hawk, the free encyclopedia and it showed a photo of a male Cooper's hawk which looks just like the one I saw. I found that the female is much larger measering up 21" That they have a long stripiped - bannded tail as we can see this one does . They said it visits yards with bird feeders and that yard has alot of them. They listed some of the birds it preys on. Amoung them starlings , jays and doves I looked over there just before I sat down the type this and saw some starlings jays and doves. A very common site is to see doves at the base of the tree and the top of it filled with them. Now that is alot of Info confirming that it is a Cooper's hawk as you said it was. So I changed the description on the Flickr site from Hawk to " Female Cooper's Hawk"
Thank You Jerry,
David F
Thanks Dan, glad you liked what the FZ28 aloud me to get. The FZ28 is said to be an up grade ,but I can't say you could not do this with your FZ18. I have
seen some really good FZ18 pictures posted here and on Flickr.

I'm glad you like the photos.Yes they use the default settings and sometimes use preproduction models although not in their final test. The main thing is they just take one shot. I know for sure that one of the top review sites does. And they may do the same here.
But then why would they need to take more than one shot if they stick to the default settings and carefully use their tripod. It would be way too time consuming
for pro reviewers to try and find the best setting for each camera and in each
situation. I guess that sounds good.

Sankar,I'm glad you like the photos the camera afforded me to get! P (program) mode works well as it does on most cameras I believe.Try experimenting with AWB fine tuning keeping mainly towards the yellow and slightly towards the green as needed. Also work with the exposure values. Setting the IAE on low wiil help a little on dark objects or shaded areas. However with something white on a bright sunny day standard or high should work better. Whether you'll see a difference or not I don't know. It's easy to forget to change settings back to where they were. I now have the IAE set on low and that is where it's going to stay unless... Enjoy your new camera.
