I just installed LR 2.3 RC. The reason is that 2.2 keeps crashing on me (when I am using local adjustment).
As far as picture quality, I don't see any difference.

I installed both RCs and have so far seen no differences with my 50D images

I've tried for a few shots and it's still making a mess of chromatic noise reduction. Basically I didn't see any improvements.

I am seeing WB shifts in LR 2.2 (ACR 5.2) in sraw1 where WB in DPP is ok.Hopefully will be resolved.

I find that LR does a superior job to DPP once sharpening is tuned. The masking slider is key to avoiding enhancing noise in flat areas where noise is most noticeable and sharpening the least required. The radius slider is important as well, since a too-small radius will also overenhance fine-grained noise. I took several concert photos last night at ISO 3200 and obtained results suitable for 8" x 10" prints by avoiding underexposure and tuning sharpening carefully (in my case, with these shots, I required a radius of 1.6, amount of 50, detail slider at 30 and masking slider at 65). This was without resorting to Neat Image or other specialized NR (just used the LR default of 0 luminance and 25 chrominance NR).

The equivalent DPP result was either noisier or softer, never able to approach the LR result due to its too-simple sharpening controls.
