Fantastic model indeed and photographer too! I like the color of your last picture. I got SD14 recently and am still struggling with the WB. I used gray card and 5500k light bulb and custom WB but am still not satisfied with the color. How did you get such beautiful color? As a Canon user too, I don't worry about color and WB too much because Canon does WB very well. Steep learning curve!

Hello Vit'ee

I too like the color image, very remindful of 40s or 50s advertisong which I used to love.

Being a finishing carpenter, that does much custom work, I noticed the set, very attractive and I would think expensive!
Good Lighting also.
Take care
Don

Thanks for your comments... I'm blushing.

I used 2 studio flashes (1 in a softbox and the other bouncing off the white ceiling, plus a silver reflector) at about the same colour temp and CWB with a grey card too. What I have found with continuos lighting (in my case, florescent at 5500K) is that CWB works better with a white card. I really don't know why this should be, but give it a try. Also try selecting a white point with the colour picker in SPP or Auto color balance in your PP software.

I hope this helps.

Very nice!
I was just messing around in the studio and didn't have a model...
well not one who would complain. ;-)

I used some serious 'artistic licence' on this one:

Thanks for looking.

...I wish it was an expensive piece: unfortunately, it's a fairly cheap reproduction. But it looks good when photographed and retouched carefully. You can see more of it here: http://www.pbase.com/vitee/image/105942935 - with another... living model. :-)

LOL! You're right there Bob. She is a lot less flexible than you might think from her relaxed posing. But I'm quite proud of her... she managed to retain the same expression on her face through the entire shoot.
I bet you had a hard time getting the model to do what you want,
right? But in the end she did well :)

The photograph isolates and perpetuates a moment of time: an important and revealing moment, or an unimportant and meaningless one, depending upon the photographer's understanding of his subject and mastery of his process. -Edward Weston

Vitée, this is great. The lighting and perspective you chose really mess about with your sense of scale... plus the detail on your "model" is fantastic. Great fun, thanks for sharing!

Thanks BC.

I love messing with scale. This same figure is on my business card - and a lot of people are totally fooled by the shot. When I explain she is a porcelain model, they are amazed.
