I just suffered an embarrassment I won't let happen again.

I'm not an incredibly busy photographer. I'm a weekend warrior, and things have been slow. So when I get a couple leads, you would think it would be easy to keep track of.

Well, thanks to a bizarre set of coincidences, I have two clients from the same town, with the same first name scheduled to meet me tomorrow for a preliminary interview. (Thank goodness I was able to reschedule the time for one of them). Both have weddings the same week. Both sound exactly the same on the phone.

Lesson learned: keep track of clients in a very organized file, with first AND last names. Verify that you're talking to the right person on every important phone call.

But hey, I'm just a photographer. What do I know?

Haha, no, it is two different clients, I am sure. Different last names, different details, etc. It is my own fault for not noticing that I had two completely similar clients.
How bizarre is that anyway?!

Last year I had back to back weddings (one Saturday, one Sunday) at the same out of town venue -- Saturday's couple was Tara and Matt, Sunday's couple was Sara and Matt. Talk about confusing!

Yes, I'm sure it was confusing for you... but imagine how awkward the three-way honeymoon must have been for poor Matt!

:-P

At one time there were two other photog with the same name a mine operating in the same city. I was out of the wedding scene and had a full time commercial/advertising studio but I still get calls for the other two on my phone. I am sure they get calls for me too.

I finally met one of them who happened to be shooting a wedding that I was invited to. He has has met the third one for they use the same lab. (Imagine the nightmare at that lab). It was too much and the three of us met for lunch and a had a great laugh about it all. (The pitchers probably helped).

It is tough to keep it all straight some times.

I know two sisters who got engaged over the holidays and both asked me to photograph their weddings and both were looking at getting married on the same date.

At first I thought they were talking about combining their weddings but at the time they were not aware of each others engagement and have since scheduled different wedding days in different cities.

I cant say that Ive ever encountered a 'awkward' three-way! I tend to like gymnasts!
