I would like an advice for a small camera bag that would fit E-510 with 40-150 and E-410 with 14-42. The lenses would be attached to the cameras as above. The reason is not only that I do not like to switch lenses but also based on my bad experience taking photos hear the Ocean beach. I had E-510 with 14-42 + UV filter. later at home I have found that the filter was covered with many-many small salt spots from the settled and dried ocean mist. Changing lensed near the ocean would be very destructive for the camera sensor and not good for the mirror also. Now I have two bodies with lenses attached and instead of switching lenses I will switch the cameras with lenses installed.

There are several bags but I can not try them all or few then return to the seller (mostly Internet sites). The Best Buy (I could bring cameras and try) has a limited bag selection for me to choose.

Hello Leo,

it depends on the size of the bag you want and the way to carry it. I have two Kata bags and I like them very much. The first one (DR-467) is a rucksack, has space for two DSLR's with lenses and for other equipment like separate lenses, a flash etc. It can also carry a laptop. The second one (3N1-20) is even more versatile. It's a slingback, which makes it very easy to grab your camera in a split-second. It now contains my three Olympus DSLR's with mounted lenses (E410 with 35mm macro, E330 with 40-150mm and E510 with 70-300mm) and also other gear.

I use the Lowepro Nova 4 bag for carrying lots of stuff - e.g. E-1; E-510; f2/50; 14~42; a couple of OM lenses; 50~200 portable HDD/s flash; table tripod; light meter. It is somewhat "larger" rather than "smaller"! This will easily fit both bodies with lenses attached, and I can squeeze both bodies in if I have the 50~200 attached to either body and no lens attached to the other body.

I bought a really cheap backpack type bag at Woolworths for $3 that will fit both E-1 and E-510 at a squeeze; but not with both bodies having lenses attached.

I also have several hard cases for carrying lots of stuff in the car (trips etc) and the two shoulder bags for walkabout.

May I suggest that flexibility is the key? Rather than having one expensive bag that may not suit your present or future needs? The above occasionally involves a bit of shuffling gear about, depending on what I am intending, but it does give a great amount of flexibility. If you later get (say) the f2/50, f2.8/25 and/or a pro grade lens such as the 14~54, or UWA like the 9~18, you may/will need space for extra gear as well.

The flexibility that the above system gives me suits me. With the Nova 4 I can fit six lenses, two bodies and a whole lot of extra stuff as well. While I look at these super-neat fitted bags with a degree of envy at times, the flexibility of my approach wins every time, for me! With all this gear crammed into it, it still only weighs about 6.3 kgs.

Just MO, FWIW.

... just to boil down the choices.

I just ordered the Kata 455 shoulder bag,

I think it will be a tight squeeze to fit both body side by side, I will report back once I receive the bag.

Andy,
What a beautiful bag!!! I will check the dimensions and price on the net.
Thanks,
Leo

John,

I have checked Walmart (after the crazy hours) and found there two small backpack below $10. Both with no padding but it said water resistant. One was definitely too big and another I will check tomorrow bringing the cameras.

The padding is very important, specially on the bottom (vibration etc). Even my cr@ppy one has padding on bottom and sides.

That bag Andy has bought looks really terrific!

and no, that Kata bag will not rely fit two bodies... Well, you could, but you probably can fit in 1-2 extra lenses max. The padding is not really as thick/tough as Lowepros (i also had a Slingshot 350), BUT, Kata sure is light and much more manuverable.

Kata = win

I use the DR-467 for my E-3. You can put the E-3 with 12-60 and FL-50R in the top compartment without detaching shot.

It also holds a MacBook Pro. W00t
