New Canon Micro 4/3 Camera system with ADAPTERS for L lenses?

Panasonic seems to price higher than Olympus. Look at the L1 and L10
pricing compared to the Oly E-520, it's about 2:1. Or the LX3
compared to a Canon G10.
According to Phil, the L1 and L10 came with extraordinary kit lenses: "designed in collaboration with Leica and featuring Panasonic's much lauded MEGA OIS stabilization system these are not 'cheap' zooms at all; each accounts for the best part of half the price of the kit."

I think it's fair to say they were both aimed at the semi-pro Canon 30D/40D market, rather than the entry level Canon 400D/OlyE5xx price point.
I dunno about other places, but here the LX3 and G10 are within a few $$.
I know you're equating the higher price of the G1 to the fact it has
a different viewfinder, but there are lots of other reasons the
pricing may be higher.
SLR mirror technology is relatively inexpensive. Entry level AF film SLRs were hitting the $300 price point a few years back. That's why they killed almost everything else in the mass market except the cheapest P&S. cheers, gkl

I had a 1000D and gave it back and got the G1. I do not see any
difference in AF speed, but I do notice this:
The difference will be more apparent in low light and predictive AF tracking.
I notice the ergonomy of the G1 to be much better, the swivel display
is a joy to use and prevents you from laying on the ground for
instance, it is much smaller and less "in the way", better build
quality, holds better in yourhands with somekind of rubber plastic,
has smaller lenses,
has an (even) better kit lens, has a lifeview Canon 1000D/450 D
cannot even dream of ( you see what you are doing, including DOF),
has a great way to use manual focus with manual focus assist.
I agree with the above. The G1 handles very well. Put a non-kit zoom lens on the 1000D/450D and it becomes awkward and uncomfortable (for me).
It would be great if Canon and Nikon would come up with a system of
their own, more competition means better deals. While I like some
Panny cameras, I do not like some sort of monopoly...
Olympus is expected to arrive sooner (or later). It will be difficult for Canon to compete in the micro-APS arena without painful changes to their mount and their lens lineup. Nikon should have an easier job than Canon due to their smaller mount. cheers, gkl
