I have a D-90 with a Nikkor 50mm f1.8 lense and love both of them.

The problem I have with the Nikkor 50mm is that I get a lense error if the f-stop is ANYTHING but the f 22 setting. I bought this lense to be able to use the f1.8 setting and want to know how to get the camera to use it then. How can i get the camera to accept that the lense is open to the f1.8 setting. Is it a matter of what lighting I am currently using or is it a factor of what settings I am using?

Any help would be great. Thanks!

You have to lock the aperture in at f22 and make the adjustments with the camera... not the lens.

You need to lock the lenses at f/22 (i.e., rotate to f/22 and use the red lock button to lock it there). Afterwards - changing the aperture is done using the camera - either automatically (e.g. in P mode) or manually (e.g. in A or M modes) - without touching the aperture wheel on the lenses. By the way - don't expect to see the aperture wheel turning on the lenses - it won't - but they would still use the aperture designated on the camera's LCD.

Hi,

Lock the lens at f/22, use the front wheel to set the aperture.
