I am not very camera smart - so please excuse me if this is a dumb question.

I am looking for a digital point and shoot camera to replace an old ELF S400.

The two I'm looking at are the Canon SD1100 is and the A2000 is.

I do not care about any manual modes as I would only ever use point & shoot. What I want is a quality camera that will take great pictures up to about $250

Is there any advantage to the SD1100 IS .... other than it's smaller and has a metal body and a different battery?

It's a tough decision, because I like the fact that the A2000 has a 6x zoom which would allow more flexability shooting wildlife. (sd1100 is only 3x zoom).

Would you think that these two cameras would be similar in terms of picture quality?

Would love to hear any opinions you could share?

Thanks very much

I have the SD1000 which is very similar to the SD1100 IS.

The 1100 will fit much better into jean pockets but I can see how the allure of a 6x zoom would make you lean towards the A2000.

If you plan on taking the camera everywhere, go with the smaller one.

If you don't mind having the camera around your neck or holding it, go with the larger A2000.

Have you considered some of the other Elph models with more zoom, like the SD850/SD890/SD880/SD990? I can see why you would like the A2000, but the flash recycle on that camera is rather slow, due to its AA batteries, and it is a bit larger than the Elph cameras.. The SD880 is at the top of your budget at $250 on Amazon, but it's a great camera. I have the SD870.
