Is there a reasonably-priced photo quality printer that can print 4x6 borderless prints? I've got an Epson 1270 printer that can do larger prints with terrific quality, but I'd like to be able to print 4x6's to use as proofs without going through the painstaking and time consuming job of cutting them to size. Anyone? And how much?

Photo quality printer for 4x6 borderless prints?

One option is to use Epson 4x6 paper with micro perforated edges. A pack of 20 is about $6. Still cheaper than buying a printer. Also getting prints done online for $.25 each is cheaper, but I don't know if you want to wait to get them. Finally, try asking this question in the printers forum.

i got an epson 890. was around $250 last xmas. i comes with a program called film factory. only program i've found to date that will print 4x6 borderless with no fuss. every other app i've tried, i've always had it come out with something wrong.Is there a reasonably-priced photo quality printer that can print

boght a pack of 100 sheets of epson photo paper for 20 bucks at costco. also picked up a paper cutter that has a roller blade. it doesn't bend the edge like the machete paper cutters. i get 3 4x6 per sheet. the printer can take that size paper.

Have you considered the HP Photosmart 100? It is an inkjet photo printer, and it does full-bleed 4x6.

Actually, when printer manufacturers claim such and such printer can produce BORDERLESS/FULL-BLEED 4x6 prints, what's really happening is that the printer drivers enlarge the image slightly so the printer is directed to overspray, thus creating such prints.Have you considered the HP Photosmart 100? It is an inkjet photo
printer, and it does full-bleed 4x6.
I have an Epson 820 and it works very well, ignoring the PIM-fab technology's effect to digital pictures. Hey, Canon doesn't need it anyway.

Try the Canon S900. It can print a 4X6 in about a minute and you do not have to use perforated paper. It will also print full bleed 11X8 1/2. One of the features that I really like is the ability to print full bleed 6 up or 8 up pictures. Great printer with superb results.Is there a reasonably-priced photo quality printer that can print

Try the new Epson 950, little expensive (£320 in UK), but it does exactly what you need, borderless printing, 6x4 and automatically cuts and catch the photos for you.

--UPS came today. Just took my HiTi 630PS out of the box. FANTASTIC!!! Have to fess up, I was startled when I saw a yellow print coming out forgetting it was dye transfer. Perfect 4x6 and dry. Now when friends and kids want prints, walla, I got 'em. I can crop to my likes and not Wal-Mart. So simple to use....Is there a reasonably-priced photo quality printer that can print

For proofs why print each seperately? Why not try an A4 or 8x10 page with several pictures on? Proofs don't have to be 4x6 do they? With heavy duty (170gsm) double sided high quality matt paper at 14 pounds stirling per hundred sheets (is that 20 US cents per two sided sheet) they are cheaper and quicker and you can add any annotations, blurb, and overprints (eg 'proof') very easily. If you can find a Canon S800 for under $100 you're getting a steal. The S820 and S820D are also decent printers but the one I use is the S900. The S900 is fast even at 8.5 x 11 and when you use the Canon paper you'd think you just had the pictures developed.

I can't agree that you'd think that you just had your pictures developed because I haven't seen any lately that are as good as the Canon S900 prints.

My 785 EPX makes excellent borderless 4 x 6 (from a roll or individual if you can find it). As well as 5 x 7s. The Epx is pretty inexpensive too, it can be had for $175 to $199.

Canon's own CP-100 is made for borderless 4x6 prints--dye sub, reasonable price, VERY compact printer (also does wallet sized prints).
I have one and love the output--I'm picky, and can always see flaws in ink-jet output, no matter how "good". Not so with dye-sub. Direct print from camera to paper, so easy even my wife can do it!

Well, I've had some high gloss pictures developed from camera shops that have the same look as the S900 images using Photo Paper Pro.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how the HP Deskjet 970 Cse compares to the Canon S900? I probably won't be upgrading my printer for a long time, but I'm not all that impressed with the quality of photo printing as compared to getting them developed. (I use the HP Premium Plus Gloss photo paper 9 mill. thick)

I had the 970 which I returned for an Epson 900 which printed better than the HP. The HP can't touch the Canon S900 for quality of prints and it doesn't even come close to the Canon in speed or ability to produce full bleed prints.Out of curiosity, does anyone know how the HP Deskjet 970 Cse
