Hi, all

When I'm working with my husbands D700 + 50mm (handheld) I know that: shutter speed should be at least 1/60 or more, unless there is something to block or lean on.
This to avoid motion blur, (Formula = Speed, more or same as focal length)

Since the D700 is an FF, I can imagine the formula (or trick) to find correct exposure time is totally different.
Can someone help me out with this?

Thank you very much
Lisa

Use the same formula, using the FF equivalent focal length. LX3 24-60, minimum handheld shutter speed 1/30- 1/60. That's without OIS.

That's easy, thank you Jeff :-)
with OIS it would be 3 stops lower, I'll guess

Totally depends... I've played with this quite a bit and with mode 1 OIS I've actually snapped 2 sec exposures that were quite reasonably sharp even at 100%. For me the threshold is closer to 1/5 but that of course is of motionless objects and with a decent bit of concentration. A hot tip I'm sure you're already on to is using is the continuous drive mode, taking 3-4 exp's, and choosing the sharpest of the lot. Don't be afraid to bring up the ISO, proper exposure will bring those details outs much more than all the other factors combined!

So... in sum PLAY! digital pics are free! if you really need to get that one shot EVERY time stick to your formulas, but isn't this camera ALL about tinkering?

Yes, I use it as a guideline, when there is no second change to shoot!
The LX3 seems to be 'the love of many' and everyone adores it!!
It is becoming the: LX3 Pana’ChouChou, which is nice. :-)

Thank you lexpower

Actually, motion blur is usually the designation for the subject being blurred.. I think what you're addressing is camera-shake or hand-shake...

Assuming your subject is stationary, to be safe the same rules above still apply but with stabilization they can be cheated... To what extent those rules can be cheated is different for each individual because some are steadier than others.. I myself can sometimes pull off 1/2 second exposures & other times can't even come close @ that speed but have my LX limited to ISO 200 & 1/4 sec in 'P' & am pretty consistent when the light gets that low...

For subject motion blur... 1/60th is rarely, if ever fast enough no matter how wide, tight or bright the conditions....

Yes, that is what I meant > Cam-Shake.
Thank you for the input.

Heu .. can I put: a specific AE Bracketing, within a user mode?

I've yet to delve into the Custom modes & could only suggest that you try it to see that it retains the bracketing.... Not having any clue about those Custom settings, as I don't... I can't think of a reason why they wouldn't retain bracketing parameters... But then again you would think they would remember zoom & manual focus parameters too but the don't, from what I've read here...

Okay, Rossuziers

Six days to go, before I can lay hands on my LX3 Pana’ChouChou!!
Can't wait unpacking that little black angel with red dress. ;-)
