Does anyone still shoot with the A200

I've had my A200 since April and I love it. I will at some point be
upgrading to an A700 level camera, when finances allow.
Wow - a mirror-self! I bought mine in April as well, it's served me very well & couldn't be happier. Possibly an A700 in my future, but am willing to wait another year or more to part with the A200. If that forces me to accept an A800 or some such, I'll manage :^)
Images galore at http://picasaweb.google.com/alphaPDX - all A200 shots.

All the posts here are about the A900 or A700 with a smattering of
the A300 series.
As someone who is considering a dslr on a limited budget I am looking
at the Nikon D60 and the A200 but I see little here on the A200. I
like the feature set on the A200 but the D60 seems to get praise for
it's high iso low light performance and it's flash capabilities. I
just wondered if anyone still used this entry level camera and
without going into all the comparisons, are you happy with it.
Hey George.. welcome to Sonyville

i am by far an expert...

I am currently shooting with a A200.. i've had it for about 8-9 months.. before i had never shot with any other DSLR camera.. so i had no complains.. 18-70 lens

one of my friends had a D60 70-200mm lens.. so i spent a good hour playing with his camera.. i found the body a bit small. its all about hand feel for me.. i have no real insight on picture quality.. but im sure theres plenty of experts here to tell you abotu the differences in that

all in all i preferred my A200.. yes maybe i got use to the way its held.. whereas the D60 my pinky kept cramping when i was holding it..

i would say if you were to venture into the Sony world.. buy the A200 body only.. and change into a better mid range lens as the kit lens is pretty basic (and feels cheap).. im planning on playing baseball with it soon.

all the forums talk about what will you be shooting.. to determine what kinda lens woudl be best for you.. but go to a store..hold it for a good 10 mins in your hands and see how it feels in your hands

its like buying a putter..its all about the feel

good luck

Hi dom and thank you for your reply

I think that by and large any dslr will give great results despite what the pixel peepers may say

To me it comes down to ergonomics and feature set and the A200 wins hands down on that in my opinion anyway.

I choose the A200 because of my experience with my Canon S5 liveview, in other words pretty much useless. I want the best O.V.F. I can get and liveview is immaterial as I would never use it

Thanks to all for the input and I do value and appreciate you taking the time to give me your take .

Thanks all again

George

George trust me i've asked a lot of questions.. and im sure the experts here have prob answered them over 50 times in other threads..but yet they still take the time..thats how we all learn

i am not a big fan of live view myself..

the most impt thing is to take pictures.. b/c im sure we'd all love to see them..

and as for me i get to see how others sees a frame..

to copy one= plagarism.. to copy from many=research
