.... after 5 years being a workhorse, my trusty 300D can now rest on the shelf and make way for its grandson a 450D

It went through some 36.000 shots, three weddings, four christenings events, summer holidays, trips abroad, producing pics that the family will love and cherish...

It will now join in the cupboard the EOS 5 film camera it replaced when it came in. It is its turn to take a step back and give way to the new generation.

Somehow I'm going to miss it and I will never forget that being my first proper digital camera, it helped me improve my photography, both in terms of shooting the pictures as well as processing them in PS afterwards....

I helped me see the benefits of shooting raw, it made me spend on L glass, but hey it was all worth it.

To think that I was considering buying the then top of the prosumer line up, the Minolta A2 ..... What I mistake I would have made....

What I'm not going to miss however, is watching my hair grow as it was struggling to flush its raw files in the CF nor its minute LCD screen nor its loose flash mount causing the Metz to misfire....... well nobody is perfect ....

Now I will take an equally important role, that of teaching my kids how to shoot with a DSLR (so it is bound to a get some more bruising).

Goodbye old friend and thank you for everything.....

Another like story for my 350D. It served me well duriing the 3 years I used it. It saw me through countless family shoots, 3 graduationshoot, 2 model shoots, 3 days ballet shoot and many trips, through thick mist, thin air in the mountains, rain and snow. It's shutter counter was around 55000 shots and is still going strong to double that figure.

I say a very fond farewell as I've sold it now to a very happy new owner. She will do very well with it I'm sure. I find it a great consolation that I've found it a new good home.

I've got now two new workhorses the 40D. After 20771 shots one of which the shutter failed and will be sent in for repair under warranty. So much for more durable. Now I really miss my old 350D!

I guess like a lot of people the 300D was my first DSLR too.I am glad you retired yours---I p/exed mine as part of the onward path and regret having done so.Its daft I know, but I still have great affection for it.The 6mp files still look fantastic and like you it taught me so much.May it enjoy a happy retirement.
Seasonal greetings.

I still have my 300D and try to force myself to use it, but if you are like me you will find the 450D is so much more advance over the 300D, you'll retire it with the occasional tear, but unfortunately it will gather dust on the shelf. Mine is beside my Canon 10s purchased in the 1990.

Merry Christmas all & a Happy New Year.

Purchased my 300D on December 2003 as Christmas present. Still working fine but sold it last week to my coworker and purchased the XSi body only for $449.00 with free shipping and no tax. Its really difficult to let go of something you like. Its just like buying my XSi for $200.00. Just received my XSi few days ago and I'm glad I sold it.
