These were taken in between rain drops - it had snowed earlier and I had a cover on the camera to avoid water damage. Nothing great but I wanted to see what the camera could do and after waiting a few days for the weather to break here in PA I said the heck with it and took some pics anyhow... not much color but here ya go:

(all taken handheld, IS set on shoot only, AWB, P mode, ISO100 (except a couple at 400), soft film mode on some and Velvia on others)

And there is me complaining about the weather here in the UK. God
that looks freezing there.
Yep and it's miserable here as well. There were a few times when I took these that I had to run to the car because it started downpouring (after snow the night before)
Nice series.
Thanks. I hope to get some more colorful pics next time out - unfortunately spring is a few months in the future.
Regards

Paul.

On the new camera and give yourself a pat on the back for testing in such extreme

conditions. I think they all look great and show that you have a great eye for

beauty in things that most people would not see. It's not everyone who sees a

photo opp in these conditions, sunsets are easy targets, very beautiful, but still

easy targets. Nice job.

that first one.

In the 7th shot, the background is showing through the ice on the branch. I've never seen this before and hesitated about mentioning this, but I'm wondering if there may be an internal issue with the camera.

Thank you for sharing this fine series. Brrr, it's sure cold outside!

Blonde, I did a double take on that pic also. It's not the camera. The snow has melted away from the tree trunk leaving an ice bridge. A neat effect seldom seen.

Hi Matt, very nice series. Were these taken in the Chadd's Ford
area? They remind me of the Bradywine running through Chadd's Ford
(Wyeth country).
Thanks for looking/commenting. And no it's a bit further west in Cumberland County along the Yellow Breaches (below Williams Grove) ... Matt

... Looks way cold !!
Yep I definitely had no intentions of going for a swim. I had the heater on high when I got back in the car!
Nice images. That first one really 'jumped' out at me. I like it very
much. Have fun.
Thanks for looking and commenting on these. The first one and the fog on the water were my favorites. I wish I'd had an ND filter for the falls to blur the water -but no filters yet... Matt

that first one.
That one was a lucky shot because it was a freezing rain at the time ... you can almost see the crops on the water.

That hollow spot made the shot interesting IMO. No the camera is fine - I did have some issues with PF and the camera's macro is a bit finicky but I need to learn how the camera 'thinks'.

Thanks for looking ... I hope to have some more color on the next series (might have to wait until spring - argh!)

... 3:2 drops the Jpeg resolution to Normal. There is not a huge (or
even noticeable) difference, but I don't use it for that very reason.
Ya I noticed that but unless I'm really pixel peeping or for serious work then 3:2 is otherwise fine. I like it because it's like my DSLR's were and I can use the pics for desktop backgrounds with minimal stretching of the image and have an idea of what a 4x6 will look like... Matt
