Hello All! I've been out of touch with my favorite forum for a few weeks due to a move and a change of my ISP account. I'm finally up and running again so I logged onto the retouch forum to find a ton of folks I DON'T KNOW!!

I gradually got to know so many folks around here and now I don't recognize some of the names (was I really gone that long?)!!

I think some introductions are in order. Even some "reintroductions"...

I'll go first!

I am Paige from Ohio, mother of 5, wife to 1. I own a Canon S40 and am enjoying photography and photoshopping so much! I have only been doing this for about 6 months but enjoy it more and more every day! I could spend every waking minute playing with Photoshop, if I didn't have so much other stuff to do! I have alot to learn, but am enjoying the learning process so very much!

This forum is a great place to learn the techinical side and the fun, creative side to photo retouching, manipulation and the "digital darkroom". A wealth of knowledge is shared here daily!

Welcome to anyone who is new!

Hi all,

I'm also from the central Ohio area not far from Paige. I work for Qwest Communications as an NT engineer with thousands of servers in the network.

On to photography. My wife Marianne and myself each have a Nikon D1X along with a Coolpix 5000, F100, N80, and a medium format Fuji GX680III.

I was into large format for years. We are enjoying the digital cameras so much that the others are gathering dust. This forum has put the icing on the cake for us with all the great people and fantastic tips. For that I thank all of you.

I am Cricket. I am the mother to two little girls ages almost 6 and almost 8 (both were born in August). I live on a ranch in Malibu California with tons of animals. :) 6 horses, 2 emus, 15 chinchillas, 2 cats, 3 dogs, 28 chickens, 3 macaws and a cockatoo, 3 hedgehogs, 2 sugar gliders, and a miniature horse.

I like photoshop. It is a rare day when one of my photographs is left the way it came out of my camera. I just bought a Nikon 4500 to upgrade from my Nikon 995.

OK, why not. I live NW of Chicago on 5 acres surrounded by 69 acres. My "pets" are the wild birds, deer and coyotes and foxes that frequent my yard. I got colon cancer 4 years ago (OK so far now!) and lost the sight in my right eye at about the same time. I decided it was time for a reappraisal and took early retirement at age 51 from being a lawyer. I have never regretted it and am as busy as ever but with fun stuff. (Cutting buckthorn is NOT fun but part of my life of leisure too!) I am an avid bicyclist and have ridden across Montana, Wisconsin (twice), France and Italy. I also am an avid downhill skier preferring Colorado and Utah. I got into Photoshop last year with LE but bought PS7 just a couple of months ago. I got a point and shoot digital camera last year but expect to get a more serious camera as soon as I can afford it. I found dpreview when looking for camera reviews and got hooked by the generous and talented people here. I am struggling mightily to learn and get pretty frustrated at times but every once in a while I surprise myself with something neat. This forum has become a big part of my life and I try to learn something every day.--

Good idea Paige. My real name is Claus but my "screen name" is clausiam (inspired by Dr. Zeuss). I am originally from Denmark but have lived in Marietta, just outside Atlanta, GA for 6 years now. Work-wise I am a software developer/customer project manager for a company that develops content management and single-source publishing systems. I am married and have 2 children ages 7 and 9. Hobbies include scuba-diving and photography and especially the post-processing part. I have recently started a small home-based Photo Restoration business in the hope of combining a hobby with "making enough to balance out the software and hardware expenses" ;-)

See y'all on the Forum - TTFN.

Hi all, thanks for the replies - it's so nice to be back here!

Lisa, the new neice is ADORABLE! I am so jealous of your incoming D60... I can't wait to see what magnificent shots you can produce, you're so talented!

Claus, I have a goal of being able to make some money with this too. Just enough to pay for the hobby. Let me know how it goes for you.

Bill, I got hooked here the same way you did. I came for the reviews and stayed for the company :-)

Cricket, your "creations" never cease to amaze me. You've got such a great artistic talent. You're working knowledge of PS is awesome too!

Jim, are you napping yet?!?!

I am off to take some pictures right now around my new neighborhood!!

Can't wait to meet some of the new people around here too...

Hi Paige!

I am new to this form, but I have been reading it for about four weeks. So glad that I found it. The information and help here is great!

For many years wanted to get back to my art beginnings, but life was just too busy it seemed at the time.

Thankfully, I was able to retire earlier than I expected! I enrolled at the local Community College. After eleven art classes and as many or more computer classes I am enjoying a very interesting hobby! I work on a Macintosh G4 and Photoshop is my primary program. I also use Illustrator and Painter some. I am hoping that they will be teaching a Painter class at my school soon.

The wonderful part of all this is that there is always something new to learn regardless of how many classes you take, but they do help you learn the basics.

I do not have a Digital Camera yet, but think that I would like to, just can't make up my mind which one. Everyone has a different opinion on that.
I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Thanks,
Marjorie E.

Hi, everyone,

My name is Bradley Gibson. Actually Bradley Phillip Gibson-- a friend suggested that "Bradley Phillip" sounded like a photographer (whatever that means!) so that's my pseudonym.

I'm Canadian, living in California right now. Last year I left my job as a software engineering manager to travel the world and do photography. (I figured the economy would be better when I came back, too-- oops!)

I spent six months travelling and doing photography in China, 2 months in Japan, and another 2 in Canada.

Unfortunately my D30 was stolen in China :(, along with a couple of lenses. That was devastating. But I've just managed to replace it with a Canon 1D, which I'm enjoying very much.

I have a bit of a background in 3D graphics and image processing, so if I can help out with something I'll do my best. Feel free to e-mail me, as well, if you want to make sure you get an answer to a question-- I'll do my best.

Wonderful meeting everyone. It's obvious how much everyone is enjoying themselves with this hobby.

:)

Hello Paige, et al. My name's Michelle and I live near Lassen Volcanic National Park in Northern California on five and a half acres in the mountains. I have a 10-year-old daughter Georgia (my fishin' buddy), a fine Arabian horse, a coupla dogs & cats and assorted rodents and reptiles. I built a little house of straw bales -- my local claim to fame -- several years ago and enjoy it very much. In "real life" when not sitting in front of Photoshop 5.5, I work as a paralegal for a trial attorney.

I have this forum bookmarked in my toolbar, along with the Nikon forum, and am an avid photographer. I own a Nikon CP880, an oldie but goodie.

I love this forum and am grateful for the many hours of coaching/advice/gentle critique offered by the fine Photoshop gurus whose names appear often here...You know who you are!

With warmest regards!

Michelle

Hello Paige and all,

I've been coming here for a few years now and I love this place. I have learned so much from all of you I just wish I could remember it all lol. I live in St.Petersburg,Fla and I have a Nikon 770 and 995 and love my cameras. Easter morning I broke my Tib,Fib and ankle while I was jumping over my fence trying to be a hero but my leg didn't make it. Spent 2 weeks in the hospital and now I have 2 plates and about 15 screws holding my leg together so these past months I had allot of time on my hands to learn photoshop and Thank's to you all I have learned allot.

Hello everyone!

DP Review is the best! I seldom post to the retouching forum, but frequent it a lot. I'm a non-conformist, since I use Corel PhotoPaint 9! I'm not claiming it's superior to Photoshop - I'm just accustomed to the program.

I have been into 35mm photography since 1984, and went digital in 2000. My tool is a Canon D30 & various other "toys". Digital technology in photography offers more opportunity to develop our creative skills, adding another dimension to this wonderful art form.

I just recently retired from BellSouth Telecommunications. My wife & I currently live in Atlanta, GA, but will soon be moving to St. Thomas, USVI - A photographer's paradise! We will be developing the apartment in our new home as a bed & breakfast suite, and I plan to shoot weddings as well.

I enjoy this forum. Thanks to all of you, this is the most friendly forum I've encountered at DP Review.

I don't know anybody at all!

I'm a former Air Force Colonel and now retired Neurosurgeon. Just kidding.

Sorry, no impressive credentials. Just an Ad Compositor.

Jesus Christ is my God and Saviour and I like dabbling with a little bit of theology. Also, I've been involved with photography as a hobby for 20+ years, and I currently own a Canon EOS 3, Elan II, and a G2. I work with a Macintosh G4 and Photoshop 5.5 & 7 (just learning 7).

Wanna see what I look like? My "Official Self-Portrait" is available for viewing at:

Oops. Sorry. You were my introduction to framing and I appreciate that. Thanks again. I'm still experimenting and might try programming my own Actions this weekend (got a few tips from someone at work).
