I've recently purchased a Nixvue Digital Album from the Thinking Group in Hong Kong and I have some concerns and comments.
First off, it seems REALLY slow to download, taking a few hours to D/L a 256mb CF card, is that normal? I have upgraded to the most recent firmware (2.0) with no noticable change in D/L speeds.
Second, the battery seems weak at best, allowing only about one download per charge. I know some devices have battery issues, esp. the early models but I have a feeling that is not the case here... But who knows?
Also, has anyone here changed the hard drive in one of these things? Seems simple enough, but maybe not, eh?
Other than these issues it seems to do a fine job! TV output is so handy, when I'm staying in a hotel w/ a TV, that is. Interface is very basic but very fuctional, good by me. With the new firmware upgrade it's possible to write back to CF cards, very useful! The nice folks at Thinking Group threw in the travel kit for free, along with a truly universal plug adapter (converts any plug to any other plug, literally). If you're in Hong Kong and want a DA or Vista they're the ones to talk to. They have 10gig DA's in stock and said that will be distributing the new Vista by the end of this month.
I guess I should really send an email to the Nixvue people, but I wanted to hear from those that have or have tried this product. Would you call it SLOW?
Thanks very much,
Daren
