After completing some errands. The most important of which was buying a monopod I found myself crossing the river right before sundown. I no pressing thing to do so I decided to go down by the river and watch the city skyling while the sun sets and darkness comes over the city. I used my K20D on a tripod with either the DA*16-50 or the DA*50-135 lenses. I always find it so interesting how the skycolors progress from a light blue to dark blue and then black.

Thanks for the kind comments. I do enjoy watching the sky change colors in the evening. I like the deap blue color the best, like in #3.

Yes, I should enter #4 in te lonely bench thread.

Thanks again for taking the time to look and make comments.

Great photos. I love the colour of the sky in #3. Image #4 could be
entered into the lonely bench thread

( http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1036&message=26998089 ), whilst #5 is just stunning.

Dave-
Photos 1 and 5 are really nice. Like someone else said, great colors.

Photos 2, 3, and 4 have distracting bushes/foliage at the side or bottom edges that could have been cropped out.

I did thought about cropping so that the foreground foliage at the side/bottom would be gone but decided against it for the time being. It is good to hear that you thought they should have been cropped.

I do agree that is it better to be lucky than good. I would rather be both.

Dave,

Trying to figure out where you were when you took these pics. Were you between Colgate and the river or were you all the way over towards the Park by the Falls of the Ohio?

I work in Louisville in for the insurance company whose headquarters is the big pink granite building next to the National City tower. I may try something similar to your shots before heading out on my long commute (to Cincinnati) one evening as the days get longer.

Darin,

Except for the last photo I was in Ashland Park, a small Clarksville town park. I was at the upstream half of the small park. As you can see it is a nice place to sit and watch the city skyline.

Did you ever make it to Cave Hill Cemetery?
