A720is or A1000is?

Hey everyone.

I'd like to get some opinions on which camera is better? I like the 6x optical zoom on the A720is, but the A1000is is newer. Is there a difference in image quality at all between these two? Are there better features on the image processing side of things on either camera, or are they identical?

This camera will mainly be used for pretty basic P&S stuff of my daughter, camping, fishing, etc. I have a Canon S2IS that I really like but have had horrible problems with the batteries dying overnight. I will still take it out for day trips for the better zoom, on occasion, though.

How's the flash recharge on the A-series compared to most other cameras?

Thanks a lot.
Eric

I forgot to mention that another camera I have my eye on is the Fujifilm J100. 5x optical, 10MP, looks a bit nicer.

Of these 3, or any in their price range ($180 CAD or so), what would you recommend and why?

Personally I would jump for the 720 since it has so many features, VF, full manual, chdk capability, great IQ, etc. Can you actually find a new one? They are about as rare as the a650 these days.

Edit!! I managed to find one A720is in stock for $150 CAD. :) Slightly concerned about the flash recharge time though -- this seems to be a problem on this camera. Is it common with ALL 2xAA powered cameras?

My next inclination was to compare the A1000is to the SD1100is. Aside from the size (similar), zoom (3x vs 4x... both pretty small)... what's the biggest difference?

How's the flash recharge on the Li-ion of the SD1100is vs. the AA's (2500 MaH Ni-MH) in the A1000is?

Thanks.
Eric

That's absolutely true! As for flash recharge time, it is as slow, as the old, powered by 2 AA batteries flash units. Anyway, it's a camera that can be used in both ways, either as a purely p&s, or as a more advanced tool.

Would the SD1100is or the A1000is be faster for recharge time? My wife is really not liking the idea of a slow recharge time, especially considering our 2.5 year old daughter never repeats anything photo-worthy if the flash didn't pop!
