Save your $ and £ there is a new (replacement) DSLR on the way. It will be announced in the fall and be available very early '03.

As with the Exx the lens system will be designed specifically for digital work..we all know how good the current Exx lens' are.

I have been sworn to secrecy so I can say no more....except that I will no longer be buying a D100, D-60 or S2...or SD9 for that matter

Now we're going to have to hunt you down and beat the information out of you. I'm sorry, but you brought this upon yourself... ;)

I'll get the battery and the electrode nipple clamps... you bring your Weber portable grill, some charcoal, and the branding iron. ;-)

Hi Roger.

Isn't it more likely that the Olydak (I presume?) will be available for Christmas? That's when people are treating themselves. In January we're all broke! :-)

I know you probably can't tell much but on a scale from 1 to 10 how promising does it look? Average, Good, Awesome?
BTW, does this mean no E-30 (fixed lens) or is that still an option?

Thanks, Maxven

Hi, Once I read the pricing change over at Steves Digi-cams I figured that Olympus'es new camera line was not far off. They also anounced a low priced C-4000 Zoom the day before the posting of prices. Pops

I think Olympus are trying not to "do a foveon/sd9". Better to say Feb and bring it out late December than the other way round. Who said Olydak..the agreement with Kodak is to share "technical knowledge".

This is a completely new camera I understand there will be three purpose built lens'. There will be no problem with dust "Olympus will not bring out an interchangable lens system until we have solved the dust problem with cdd's"

How good will it be? Wouldn't just hate to buy a D100 and wished you had waited.
Thanks, Maxven

Is it a real SLR with mirror, or like E-10/20 with beam splitter ? Or even with an electronic viewfinder ?

What will be the widest angle ?

Really interested - Martin

You talked too much not to talk anymore...
What about the price.will it be more affordable than D 60 &100 ?
will it be as competitive ?

Uh-oh Roger, you've started to slip up already. Three lenses... Solution to the dust problem... NOT an Olydak...

Interesting little tidbits... Now, what other little crumbs of information might you discreetly drop ;) ...

It's supposed to have the Kodak ITO sensor in it. If not, I'll go with
Canon or Sigma.

That wouldn't be good news for sensitivity : iso 100/400(very noisy)

Hi Matt.

Are you talking about the 4/3" Kodak chip? Where did you hear about the noisy part? I thought it would have little noise because of it's size.

Leo,

No rumors this time. The only reason I mentioned it was because a lot of E10/E20 owners were thinking of changing cameras.

I know that I would be really miffed if having bought a D100 et all Olympus came out with something better.

All I am saying is hang on a few months.

Dear all,

I just want to add my wish list for the forth comming Olympus camera

-Fix 28 to 140 Zoom Lens with 2.0 F-Stop (More ED lens to control CA will be nice).
-Higher Shutter Speed to at least 1/1000
-Higher ISO to at least ISO900

-Use lager CCD (Kodak 3/4 inch) to produce less noise image, of cause that need the lens to be redesigned.
-Continues Focus
-Faster Write speed, less than 10 sec. to write a 2.5MB image
-Larger Buffer to at least 8 frames.

With the mentioned added in, the comming E Series will be very very very competitive!!!
