One way to ensure the Ai-Servo mode on your 40D is tracking well is to photograph in good light. Even better, get close to your subject. Ai-Servo mode in dull lighting like on overcast days doesn't always produce the best results.
Had the day off and for once the sun was out. Although I missed the really warm and good light, I did make it out to enjoy some of it. Went to photograph a favourite subject of mine this time of the year.
I have hundreds of these photos from last year with snowy landscapes and backgrounds. What a joy to watch this subject in a different setting. The warm sunlight nehanced this subject and the habitat....and of course the Ai-Servo reliability.
Photographed with a Canon 40D and 70-200 2.8L + TC 1.4x handheld in Ai-Servo mode.
